Sooo....we have The Chocobo Version that you have to run in all the steppes to find some gold nugget or cactuar doll,we have the Tortoises one....which....can't be trusted ( like 5% chances for a trapezohedron with the connoisseurs catalog and 25% chances for a platinum ingot ).
Then we have the Mission 68 I think which you have to fight an adamatoise that the first time gives you a genji glove and then the rest of the times it gives you a gold nugget....
I know these so far but I would like to hear what are your way of choice...
Maybe share some tips
Oh there is the Sacrifice way too...which I am using
They give you a Perfume or two nearly everytime you killed a set

Reason: Additional Info
Seriously........you should definately keep doing mission 64 (Adamantoise) with the collectors catalog equipped. If you struggle with it, be sure to have Fang as main character and enough TP to summon in order to paralyze his legs. Here's a good strat if you're at a low level: Use this party: Fang (main character),Lightning and Hope - Make sure you equip Hope or/and Lightning with diamond bangles if you're low levelled.
1.Go into the battle using this paradigm: SYN/SYN/SYN or SEN/MED/SYN (if low levelled)
2.Every time before he shakes the ground with his legs switch to SEN/SEN/SEN or SEN/MED/MED (if low levelled)
3.If you need to regurlarly heal up switch to SEN/MED/MED
5.Keep repeating the first two steps until you've fully strenghtened all you're characters (preferably Fang/Lightning= Brave,Haste,Faith,Protect and Hope = Faith,Haste and Protect)
6.Once you're fully powered up summon Bahamut and switch Fang to SAB. Don't debuff him with everything just use Deprotect,Deshell,Slow and Curse.
7.Attack using Bahamut, once he's gone strength up everyone offensivly using COM/RAV/SYN and then switch to COM/RAV/RAV and build up his stager while attacking him as Fang.
8.When he's staggered, switch to COM/COM/RAV and you should be able to kill him unless you're EXTREMLY below par.
Hope this helped.
You're not always gaurenteed to get a Platinum Ingot, but you should get it most of the time if you have the collector catalog. Also if you don't get it, don't worry you'll still get the chocobo plume which sells at 60,000 gil - but it can only be acquired by doing the mission. If you manage to get the Traphezodron instead, consider yourself the luckiest person in the world, as it's a rare drop and cost 2 million gil at the R&D depot.
I'd go with the sacrifices first for some easy gearing up then farm the adamantoise in levianthan plaza , its easy to go back and forth from the sacrifices to the adamantoise , also if you are using connoisseurs and collectors catalogue there is a trick you can use to increase your chances of getting a drop by saving and replaying. I only have my experience from farming adamantoise which I found that after I got a drop if I saved and reloaded my game I got more drops , instead of continuing to farm without saving and reloading.
Either way once you have enough gear the adamantoise will be your best gil farming , which also later require farming shaolong gui to obtain the neccessary dark matter to do all your upgrades.
Also if you are not geared or leveled enough to farm adamantoise without using sentinel in your paradigms then you should stick to sacrifices in eden halls , to actually "farm" adamantoise you shouldnt need to switch to sentinel paradigms.
For adamantoise farming in Levanthian Plaza I used this paradigm deck with a team of Fang, Vanille , and Sazh. The paradigm deck was - Superiority / Assassination/ Tri-Disaster / Agression / Cerberus / Discretion
Equip each team member with a Genji glove , and a Gaian Ring , give Fang a STR item , give Vanille a Magic item and a +health bangle, and give Sazh a STR item , eqiup Fang with a Collectors Catalog and Sazh a Connoisseurs Catalog. I replayed this just to check and I got 3 platinum ingots in 3 tries and I 1 shotted the adamantoise in 1 stagger each time. It took 2:40 min. to kill the adamantoise plus 1 min. to save and reload the game , so that was 450,00 gil in 11 min.'s. That was a very lucky drop rate on the ingots so probably you wont get gil that fast all the time but it is a very quick and easy way to farm gil , I've gotten so good at it that I can turn the game sound off and watch TV while I farm ingots.
At the begining of the battle while you kill the left and right legs its important that you switch to 'Superiority' so your team is buffed by the time you get to the main body. Once you start attacking the main body debuff with Assassination and raise the chain gauge with Tri-Disaster , once you stagger go to Agression then Cerberus maxing out the chain gauge to 999, if the adamantoise starts to stand up hit it with Fangs 'highwind' to finish it off. You can kill the adamantoise in 1 stagger this way.
If your team is not very well equiped you may need to equip 1 or 2 moonbow anklets to avoid the daze or at least one on Vanille , until your gear is good enough to kill the adamantoise in 1 stagger then you can swap out the anklets for more damage buffs. With this paradigm I could take out an adamantoise in 2 staggers easily with medium level gear. As you get better gear you can eventually kill them them in 1 stagger.
In this video the team is the ideal farming group but you wont be able to start with Lightning in your team until later when you get better gear since her health is to low , Sazh can be used instead you will need Fang and Vanille , with Fang as the leader since she is the commando and commandos need to be controled by the player since they can target something other than what you want them to target during a battle. As you gear up and get better and better gear you will be able to kill them faster each time. Later you will need to farm Shaolong Gui for dark matter. Shaolong Gui are more deadly and require a better geared team yet take less time to kill. The gear on this group in the you tube vid is overkill , you dont need 3 Kaiser Knuckles on Fang to kill the adamantoise in 1 stagger , I did it with brawlers wrist bands , but all 3 of my team members had their main weapon fully maxed out to Tier 3 *.
P.S. Dont expect to do as well as the team in the vid since they have very high level gear on each member. Also this set up is more of a farming team set up as it doesnt require you to take time to build TP for a summons , trying to kill adamantoise with a summons isnt farming since you spend most of your time killing trash mobs to build up your TP. Wth this team set up you can kill adamantoises in Leviathan Plaza one after the other back to back again and again and therefore farm them. P.P.S. You will need to farm adamantoise to get the trapz you need for the weapon upgrades , during that time you can accumulate platinum ingots to build gil , so regardless of which you like best for gil (imo its adamantoise) you will need to farm these for trapz.
(Requires 1-2 genji gloves) If your guys arnt as strong but still strong (fang in the 2000s for strength, light 1500, snow 1500-1800) use a part of Fang Light Snow and set em up so you have 3 sabs 3 sens 2 syns 1 med 3 com adn 3 ravs.
Summon bahumut and while its down INFLICT SLOW then start debuffing as fast as this will raise bar more likly as not you'll stagger swith to 3 ravs and wail on it till 999% then un leash 3 coms and voila in 1 stagger. If not keep fighting as shown in video but wear down one leg till a bits gone then use highwind. If things get tough go to 3 sens heal with mediguard (light will just dodge).
Wow
Thanks a ton guys for your help
I will bookmark this thread as it is so helpful...
Oh, should I do some more level up in my characters ?
They have like 14,500 HP...I think I should level them up until they get at ;east in 20,000 and then fight Adamantoise
Yes 20,000 is bout oretoise safe kupo. But you have to remember use your strongest as your leader (Fang was mine) then you can fight. Always keep a medic in you paradigms to be safe.
(favoured party:
Fang
Light
Snow)
i never needed a medic with these three coz i took the legs out too fast and then i use 3 sabs to deprotect deshell and slow then i went to town on it with 3 coms.
(paradigms:
3 sabs
1 com 2 ravs
3 ravs
3 coms
2 sen 1 med (in case its needed)).
