He ate an Adamantoise in one bite, so no one would stand a snowball's chance in hell against him. Those things take a while to kill unless you've advanced along the Crystarium far enough, and even then they aren't the easiest monsters in the game.

Please understand he does not Eat them for food, hes like a biogenic despensor, whatever he eats, he fuels inside him and it comes out of him stronger.
He he not a violent Ci'eth, he is more interested in finding a challenge and does not want weakness on gran pulse. He is named the Guardian of Gran Pulse (You get a similar title from him) If you finish missions 52-56 Super Adamantoises arrive in gran pulse which is what he created. He is not threatened by you but does not think lightly of you until you complete his challenges.
The purpose of him is for missions 35 to 51, with 51st being Gilgamesh which is mega easy sadly. Unfortunately doing missions 35-51 isn't just go to star spot, you have to go from fight to fight to fight through a series of 5 fights, last one being a final boss, then titan warps you back to start, you'll be repeating same mobs a couple times until you have completed all the paths.
So in all fairness, hes about as important as the Mark Hunting bored in ff12 lol.
He has very little dialogue, and he does not do an awful lot.

They're all easy other than E2 in my opinion, E2 is an Ochu similar to the one with double EXP but does not start with minions until he does Pollen, You can do the death tactic on him.
I found E3-4-5 to be the easiest, infact other than Ochu and Gilgamesh as bosses, the Tonberries in I think D2 are friggen hard but cant be pre-empted.
