I was playing my jp copy of final fantasy 13 today, and at a certain point on pulse, I heard something rather odd...

just before you fight balanders again, when he is pretending to be serah, he addresses lightning by a different name, I think. If I'm reight, I heard him call lightning (yes, a spoiler within a spoiler)

...Eclair's not a name, its a pastry with custard creme...and Lightning is a weather phenomenon. Although one is delicious and the other is just plain cool, this, used in Final Fantasy(meant to be taken seriously-and true FF fans MAY agree), this is unacceptable. But then, we do have the Flans(and their cousins the Mousses). "Flan"(no, not Fran, Flan), or "Mousse" might actually be a future playable character in an upcoming title.*Shiver*
I just can't take her or her name seriously. The game developers apparently didn't.

yeah Eclair mean lightning in French. I know that because it's the name of one of the most hated girl characters in anime - Eclair Tonnerre (Lightning Thunder) from the anime Ouran High School Host Club. She appeared only in the last episode and is one of the biggest bitches in anime.
her real name is a cop-out, but any name would just be a random name and would have no significance anyway. Maybe she kept the meaning of her name when she re-named herself to sound tougher. *shrug*
I absolutely hated the idea of a character called "Lightning" when I first heard of this game, but it's grown on me...so I'm ok with the stupid names, lol.
Better than her going. "No you guys can call me my real name." Then everyones eyes grow wide and one asks "Well what is it." Then she pulls out a birth certificate and says "Lightning. I got the papers finalized a few weeks ago. It's official guys!!"
