Sankaku paraphrased a few parts of the design from the Ultimania:
Quote:
The game’s linearity was just because depicting towns and so on like we did before was impossible to do on an “HD” console – it was too much work.
Nomura had hardly anything to do with it; he just did character design and commercials, not even the intro or movies.
The game was designed with DLC in mind but we don’t actually have any planned.
It was easy to port to the Xbox. Porting to the PS3 is harder. The PS3 has more processing power but you have to do it properly.
Jumping was manual at first and you could jump onto the titans.
You used to be able to avoid enemy attacks in the field using the analogue stick, but due to difficulty considerations it was canned.
The battle team came up with the transforming summons. The art team was dead against them.
“I was thinking this time we would make it completely story-centric” – Toriyama.
Learning and making Storyboards in my own classes now, this seems a lot more interesting otherwise it would have been just art to me. This is a great resource to see pre-production information and what was going through their heads
Sankaku paraphrased a few parts of the design from the Ultimania:
I don't trust Sankaku, not at all. The hate for FF13 (and actually, a lot of games) on there is so overwhelming. I mean, ALL the articles they had for FF13 were either negative (sourced from 2ch, no less), or concerning Vanille's panties.
Some information from the Ultimania translated at GameFAQs (characters and height, lol, but info nonetheless):
Lightning---21---171cm
Snow---21---200cm
Vanille---19---161cm
Sazh---40---189cm(including afro)
Hope---14---153cm
Fang---21---175cm
Serah---18---164cm
Dajh---6---117cm(including afro)
Nora---163cm
Bartholomew---178cm
Gadot---21---192cm
Lebreau---19---168cm
Maqui---17---162cm
Yuj---19---181cm
Galenth---185cm (Galenth was designed by Nomura and not Nao Ikeda)
Cid---199cm
Yaag---190cm
Jihl---166cm (176cm with heels)
Rygdea---180cm
Amodar---186cm
Interesting, Snow isn't officialy a pedophile at least. Why has Nora their own length when Lebeau, Maqui, Gadot and Yuj are in it? There are some characters that I don't know but I guess they aren't very important to wrap in spoilers since they weren't featured in the trailers.
I thought read somewhere Vaniile was 17 and Fang was the same age as Lebreau. Well whatever.
Lol all the men in this game are quite tall. I think this has to do with the general animu rule that men must be one head taller than girls
Bandwidth exceeded.
I'm baffled as to how many sites are surprised that the game was originally slated for the PS2.
Didn't S-E even blatantly say so in 2006? The game itself looked interesting. Especially the cel-shading. I want S-E to release a cel-shaded main series title and break with the ultra realistic trend. It would be worth it just for the fanboy meltdowns.
