I think it's bullshit. They use the Japanese terms (Optima, Break, Attacker, Healer, Enhancer) instead of English ones. They also don't say anything about that story that couldn't be assumed from playing the import (at the end they say there are whiny characters with no redeeming features, and correct me if I'm wrong but the character development in this game is supposed to be the highlight).
It sounds like they received the import version, played 10 hours and wrote a haphazard review.
Seeing their opinions on the past FF games, I'm not even gonna take that review in consideration when i make the decision of buying the game on release or when it drops to the greatest hits price.
The second page won't load for me. Guess I can't read the full review.
I didn't even realize they skipped VIII until you pointed it out. They skipped X, too.
Yeah they also call FFX-2 the first FF on PS2 as well
I don't know who did that timeline but clearly they need to be shot. I can't even imagine the conversation that would go down between this person and their boss upon this discovery.

I've been having these weird thoughts lately… Like, is any of this for real… Or not?
Well, if I'm being frank, VII & IX is what got me interested in the franchise.
- First intro into cinematic scenes
- camera zooms in an out and around the battles for a dramatic feel (FFIII DS & FFIV DS also had this)
As for X, Actual voice acting. Even the lipsync was kinda off.
