What do you think they would make ingame world travelling like if they remade FFVII. Would it be the same as before, with a 200 foot tall cloud figure running around, or would they find a new (possibly linear way) to do it?
Whats it like in other, more recent final fantasy games?
Its would be very easy to make it out it was. But instead of a birds eye view, give a 3rd person view, update the graphics and done. Add a birds eye map view. The only problem would be the airships. Something revolutionary would have to be done for the airships.
What we need is. A open world. Not this XII crap where its open/limited. It all needs to be open. Hard to do but still doable.

Go play Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and say that.

Also, would you prefer the game to stay ATB style, or DOC style?
I rather them just give two or three ways to play it. Let us choose at the game start screen ATB, KH/CC, or ADB. Since I know everyone else want to play ATB except for me because then I'll just be playing through the same way I have been playing it since it came out. Just remove the instanced battles and have them like on the field like Chrono Trigger(not cross that was instanced) or random but take place on the same map like Parasite Eve/Crisis Core.

oh so you mean like actually being able to move the character?
Yeah, i think they should give us three battle systems to choose from. I personally don't want to go back and play it on ATB again. some other people do though.

i hate ATB.i really like the "phantasy star universe" approach to combat.
also the whole idea of having a massive, free-roam morrowind game would be awesome.
just realised. despite the massive fuss they made, the morrowind map was bigger then oblivions. it was just the lack of draw distance.

Much bigger and you didn't have to load to walk in a city (Oblivion had those gates).
I don't want Square to dump the ADB and the gambit system anytime soon. The more they use it the more they can improve it. So far we only have XII and R Wings using the system. FFIV ATB was trash but it got better over time, example X-2 has the best ATB system hands down. 1-3 used turn based and X improved(not as much as I would hope, they need to play D&D to have it down pact). Front mission used Turn-based strategy and now we have Tactics and Front Mission 5 doing much better things. All I am saying is the more they use something the better they can become with it. Don't dump the ADB.
i also wouldnt mind a remake to have more then 3 characters in one battle. doesnt make sense if your fighting safer sephiroth with only 3 people, when you have 8 at your disposal

That is why I only want 5 characters max (or have characters only for certain parts like II, IV, and V) in FFXIII. Just let me use them all in battle especially since they all are supposed to have "unique" roles in battle. This whole swap thing is just plan silly.
"oh noes a big scary dragon at the bottom of the pit i just fell into. dont worry. the rest of my party can absail down to help me in the blink of an eye"
if they did change the world map they'd have to put in more accesable vehicles. like clouds bike. at the end of midgar, he just left it. surely if you're travelling the whole world you dont want to walk
Im re-playing the game at the moment, and what i would really like in a remake is voice acting. Some of the scenes arn't nearly as cool as they could be mainly because theres no emphasis or tone. However, i wouldnt like the Europe/US version to have the same voice actors as AC. Cloud didn't sound any where near as cool as he did in the Japanese version.
World map could also use a few more things. Doesnt make sense that no one else in the world is travelling. Be cool to find random traders or bandits along the road, or Shinra outposts near Midgar and Junon.
