This program annoys me. I mean really REALLY annoys me. E4 advertised it as "The funniest new comedy to come to E4" when its not funny at all.
I mean the program is about...a woman...who is fat, ugly and trying to find a job at a fashion magazine. She gets it as a receptionist. Pretty good so far. If they had kept it at that. Then it would have been "alright." But then they throw in the constant humiliation of Betty. She works at a fashion magazine who constantly take the piss out of fat she is, how ugly she is and her fasion sense. It isn't behind her back. Its too her face. Does Betty stick up for herself? nope. Is Betty helped by her boss? nope. The whole goddamn program bases around her having the piss taken out of her. Does America not know that 14/15 year olds watch this shite, growing up believing that it is okay to just stand there and accept this abuse if you are "different" or "abnormal" and if your thin, sexy and behave like an idiot then everything is handed to you on a silver platter.
The program is just more American tripe. Stick to one-camera comedies America, Scrubs rocks and learn that just because Desperate Housewives was a big hit over here does not mean shit like this is as well.
America Ferrera is being commended? for breaking down barriers for Latinos? OH OKAY, so if your a Latino...but your fat, accept abuse all the time and just try to act happy constantly.
The constant gags in the show aren't even funny. OH WOW what happened this week? Oh Betty hit her desk on the table because the floor buffer hit her. WOW I AM IN STICHES.
I only watched five episodes (I only continued watching after the 1st episode because the Secretary is A+++++ fit) so it might have changed.
My sister adores it. Its got some funny moments and its good sides. But I dont watch it, I dont want to look after another series.
I would not say I'll hate it, but thats maybe because I never seen (as many as) 5 episodes.

And it f***ing hurts
I doubt that children would take her as a role model, but she does take the higher road and doesn't retaliate to her abusers, so it is the basis of standing up for yourself by being civilized and not retaliating and making it 10 times worse than it was before, because if you react, your spuring somebody on, trust me, i know.
I've watched most episodes, it doesn't make me laugh but i think it is overall a good show, it does scream out 'beauty is only skin deep' which is true, under it is organs, but everybody now lives in such a biast world where everything is strived to perfection, and so is people to, if somebody is considered abnormal or different, it doesn't matter because everybody is different, only plants are the same with there stupid arse genetic morphing, but yea we are different, but science is changing that.
There is no such thing as perfection.
Whoops....went off topic, yea somebody go back on please. XDDD

by the way Daniel meads brother a girl. crazy as hell-but it looked like a flawless sex change
Hey I love this show! I don't think its showing that its OK to abuse people, maybe you have to watch the whole series but the message I got from it was that to be a good person is better than being hot and all that banana.
Seriously when Wilhemina insulted Betty horribly in the meeting when she went all Queens-Fabuloso it wasn't funny, it was horrible, it wasn't meant to be funny. The show pokes fun more at the ridiculous figures in the fashion industry. Its a fun show! Plus Amanda and Henry = hotness.
