Oh my god, you people can be pretty silly sometimes. You're getting worked up over nothing.
The interview states that everyone who was alive when the merger took place remains alive due to chaos exposure. Serah's dead. She died before it even happened. So she's still dead. Otherwise the scenes in the final DLC would be pretty fucking redundant, wouldn't they? SE aren't that silly.
I hope it references FFXIII and FFXIII-2 as much as possible.
Same and I'm sure it will. If Square Enix truly wants to conclude this story and the character's journey it has to tie in all the elements from the first 2 games and provide a fitting conclusion and a positive one.
I just want to know that Vanille and Fang weren't frozen as crystals for the rest of their lives and actually had a happy ending. I want that for Serah as well (whether it's with Noel or Snow).
And I hope Lightning also gets some happiness and peace at the end of this game.
Lol at the hater asking for me to be banned just because I'm happy for the game. And I did quit the site. Posting here every once in a while is not that difficult. As opposed to when I visited here daily.
FFXIII-5 looks to be very interesting thought and I'm definitely looking forward to the trailer!!!!

Except that means you really didn't quit the site. Pretty sure your words were along the lines of, "I'm never posting here again." Yet here we are. If you can't see your blatant hypocrisy, I surely can't help you see it. And every time you do come back to post, you try to stir up shit because you're apparently still anally ravaged about things that happened months ago. So please, stay well and truly gone.
dissapointed. I was excited for this game for a while there. When they said it could be played on it's own I thought that meant it might not have much connections to XIII - was wrong. Damn. Another game I won't be getting then. I'll see what people say about it when it comes out, but nothing good was said about XIII-2 so I'm not going to get my hopes up that this will be any better.
Uh. It's a sequel, not to mention a concluding title. You should have expected much.
And deciding not to get a game just from judging initially released info is a load of bullcrap to me.
" I'll see what people say about it when it comes out,"
How about, try to play the game by yourself and THEN form your own opinion?
Uh. "Continues Lightning's saga, while still playable as a stand-alone experiance" - so now stand alone means I should expect it to be filled with connections to other games? Stand alone means it can be played on its own. We were told it's set hundreds of years in the future and were only told about Lightening? Unreasonable to assume everyone else from XIII was gone and so there would be little connections? I don't think so.
I liked the idea because for me XIII was god awfull, the story and the characters as well as everything else. If it didn't have those connections I thought it was more likely to be a decent game.
How about I don't waste my money on something I'm more likely to dislike then like? Did I ever say I'd form an opinion on the game if I hadn't played it? No, I said I'd wait and see if people said it was good. Otherwise I'm not wasting my money on something that I'm not going to enjoy. Maybe you've got money to throw away but I like to buy things and spend time on things I like.

That's fucking dumb. You've never watched a trailer for a movie or game and decided that it's not your thing? Never read the blurb of a book and gone "No, thanks." Never listened to a couple of songs by an artist and figured you probably won't like their album? You can say no, but I won't believe you.
Being given the benefit of the doubt is not an inherent right of any product. You live and die by your pitch and if someone isn't pleased by that pitch, they are not wrong to forgo the product.

Ah, I lost. Thank you for pointing that out to me.
In this case though I still think it's pretty stupid to decide whether to get the game or not just from this info, especially when we haven't seen any footage or trailer yet.

The trailers to XIII looked amazing. It's hard to judge on a trailer because it can look really cool. You can't see how much depth a story has from a trailer or if the characters are really interesting or not.
I was very interested in the game when I thought there wouldn't be as many connections to XIII. Having more connections means a continuation of the same story and characters that I disliked before. If I disliked the characters from XIII why would I like them now, it's unlikely, if I disliked the story before, why would I like it now, when it's full of the same people and developments from before.
I didn't buy XIII-2 because I had no interest in seeing where the story from XIII went or what happened to the characters. The same case here. When they said stand alone, I got my hopes up that it might not be such a problem, but from the new information that seems unlikely. Hence I'll not buy it unless what I hear from people makes me think it could be different.

I agree with both Shan and Chel here. That's why I'll wait for a proper trailer, gameplay and then watch a bit of walkthroughs when it comes out. But for now I don't like it, just I didn't like XIII-2 without buying it.
The info got me slightly hooked for a second there, but it's gooooone.
No, the plot just throws all sense to the wind. I really don't think it was unreasonable to believe, given the initial information about the title, that a lot of things would be 'reset' so to speak. Lightning was in crystal stasis, so the only ones we had a reasonable expectation to see besides her were Fang and Vanille given the huge time jump. This person couldn't have know about the Chaos immortality thing until it was revealed about a day ago.
