Default FFXIII Lightening Early Weapon Question

I am currently at chapter 7 farming cp/gil at hope house, and I currently have 100k gil, and I am wondering which is better to level up for the early game, gladius or the axis blade, I plan on making lionheart my main weapon, but I want to know if I should got atb for quicker stagger, or since I dont have much dmg, the gladius would help more.

Quick stagger is awesome but i would advise you to not upgrade anything untill the game opens up at chapter 11 (?)
Then start farming and upgrading stuff by following guides.
After all this time there are pretty detailed guides out there about this stuff.

Try gamefaqs but i think we also have something in these forums if you look carefully.

That would be best imo.

You can always start scanning through guides and see if you can upgrade something you like from this early on,but if you dont find the game too hard
it is perfectly possible to reach Pulse with lvl 1 weapons.

From then on you will HAVE to upgrade them though, because the difficulty spikes.

Agree with Eiser, definitely save your items and gil for chapter 11. Trust me, it's worth it. Lionheart is a great weapon, Hauteclaire is also pretty good as well.

I disagree. I always level up my weapons early (it certainly helps to stay ahead of the difficulty curve I find, anyway). I`d recommend going for quickstagger. The weapon in question isn`t Lightning`s strongest but it`s good being able to stagger an enemy early, just before it`s stagger gage is full. Personally i`ve never liked the axis blade at all. It`s up to you though what you want to do.

*Edit* If you do decide to level up your weapon of choice then make sure it is the weapon you`ll use the most so that nothing goes to waste. I always plan ahead and decide which weapons my characters will use most. Obviously some weapons you won`t be able to get until later so either I only level them up a bit or not at all.
