Blood mages in Dragon Age can be kind of unfair.

SecuROM and shitty midi soundtrack confirmed.

15 year old game having SecuROM. Hell, 15 year old game having DRM full stop. Holy shit, whoever made that decision is a special kind of stupid.

Wow, I am just blown out of the water by these enhancements. Truly this cannot fail to succeed.

Just read this on Giant Bomb.

Quote:
So I picked it up and right away just trying to download the installer when ESET NOD32 started flagging up that FINALFANTASYVII-dm.exe is a variant of Win32/Adware.Trymedia.A.

So Square's EU store is using an adware distributer for the installer. I keep my system clean, I am not going to start up this executable.

I also read varying reports about what type of SecuROM gets installed, and whether it includes a rootkit. Some people seem to indicate no problems, some have said that they have found SecuROM registry keys, that it stops AdAware from booting properly, that they cannot properly uninstall the game and that that they are getting hardware removal sounds appearing randomly for no reason.
Gross.

Using the booster is non-reversible.

More DRM shit from NeoGAF:
Quote:
*There is online connectivity required for this re-release of a game from....is it 97?
*It also comes with limited activations.
*Users on their forums are reporting that the actual download is only valid for 30 days.
*They are hiding the DRM information as much as they can on the actual store page.
This is shit. This is indefensible shit. This is indefensible shit that probably sold depressingly well.

Get the PS1 version, be it disc or PSN. Or don't get it at all, I'm sure there's a million playthroughs on YouTube. Don't... don't buy this utterly indefensible shit.

So the only real "enhancements" they made were DRM related? Well, those are some pretty great enhancements. How has this not sold fifty million copies already?

Jesus Christ, it was just looking like a clusterfuck but now it's out it's obvious it's a clusterfuck of rape. Can you imagine the shitstorm on the internet if Activision or Ubisoft tried something like this? Dear GOD I hope this bites them on the ass. Hard.

Just when you think things can't get anymore pathetic. The original PC version has lots of mods roaming about these days, Some are actually pretty good. HD battle areas, updated models, change music and even the battle menus etc, etc. The fact that fans put in more effort into making FF7 better than SE is just wrong...

And just when you think it can't get anymore stupid, almost all of those player-made mods are unable to work on the new version. Sucks to suck, SE.

Wow. So they actually managed to downgrade it then. That's an achievement right there, They should give the employee that spent a whole hour doing it an award.
