Hmm for me its kinda boring if SE really decides to make another FFXIII. I mean it was supposed to be FFXIII, FF versus XIII and Type-0. We did not receive Type-0 and no versus yet but they are thinking about FXIII-3? If they really make a new FFXIII they could at least design full new areas and otherwise it feels like theyre just milking the cow.
You may think you've read this headline before, but we actually have a few additional bits about Square Enix's upcoming "Lightning Saga" announcement.
In this week's Famitsu, FFXIII and XIII-2 producer Yoshinori Kitase says that at the upcoming FF series anniversary event, Square Enix will make an announcement regarding Lightning Saga, the next development in the Final Fantasy XIII project. This, of course, is what Square Enix said when it provided details on the event a couple of weeks back.
Kitase adds a couple of additional bits in his Famitsu commentary. The new project has just recently started, says Kitase. We'll get the project's official title at the anniversary event.
The anniversary event will be held in Shibuya from August 31 through September 2. The big announcements will come during a stage event on September 1.
A hastily made, poorly considered announcement of an announcement, followed by a rushed development of a sequel no-one wanted to a sequel no-one wanted from a director no-one likes approved by a president everyone hates.
Guess XIII-2's drastically reduced sales on its predecessor were unexpected and a real slap in the face.

I'm gonna need a tub to catch all that spilled tea.

Don't kid yourself. There's no saving the saga after XIII-2, Toriyama or no.
They will just have to bring back some of the original cast in your party, like snow, sahz and fang along with lightning and noel and possibly a new character.
Then add 2 towns, some exploration and an airship and we are good to go.
Oh,tweak the battle system a bit too.
story cant and will not be salvaged at this point, but at least it can become a fun game.
You know, we still haven't been guaranteed that this is a game at all. I can't help but hope that this is just a movie or a portable game. I don't want to see another full console game made for this mess of a saga.

I agree.
They should move on and finish XIII as fast as they can and not with a 3rd game if possible.
Let type-0 and versus take some of the spotlight now.

Or they can actually MOVE ON, and just stop with this mess.
The idea of a movie a la Advent Children doesn't sound bad.
Really? SE's worse at making movies than it is at making sequels...
I prefer them handing a movie project to Visual Works or whoever the fuck, rather than them working on another mess of a sequel.
I liked Spirits Within.
