I first started playing video games with the NES but I didn't really get into gaming until the SNES with Final Fantasy IV and Super Metroid and the rest is history.
Oh man Super Metroid. I loved that game even when I was way too young to appreciate it (or even get anywhere close to beating it). The nostalgia in this thread is getting to be a little overwhelming, I must admit.

Me too, I actually replayed it a while ago and I can't believe I still remember where everything is.
I was on the mall with my dad cause we wanted to buy a PS2, then we went to the games section and he bought FFX. I never really liked it at first, but when I watched him play I just fell in love lol so I stole the game from him and I'm a FF Freak since then.
When I was 11 my mom came home from the store and she said "Hey look at this game I bought you" and it was Final Fantasy Tactics. So I've been addicted ever since because of my mom haha . As far as how I got into gaming I think it was Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Genesis I miss those times .

I actually got into FF through Chrono Trigger. That was my first RPG, followed by Secret of Mana and then Secret of Evermore. I played FFVI like a year after VII came out and then I finally got to VII. And so forth...

My earliest video game memories are playing Super Nintendo over my cousins' house and then we got a Sega Genesis for Christmas that year. After that it was just a conitunuous sprial of love. I think we went through like three Genesis's because we broke them so much, because we rough on our games and consoles like most kids are. I think a peanut butter and jelly sandwich actually broke one of them. idk.
Then we went on to buy the original Playstation with our first games on discs, and we definitely started taking care of them from then on. We actually still on our oringal system and I think it works. Then I moved onto the Playstation 2. Somewhere in there I also owned a Gameboy Color, though if I remember right, I was late to the game. My first current gen console was the DS Phat, followed by the Wii, XBox360, and Playstation 3 all in the same year. We're on our 3rd PS3's and Wii's because sold them at some point when we were broke and homeless, but after this Christmas we will have a Wii again, which is the only thing I'm currently missing. I got PSP3000 in May, and that's my newest system.
As for where I got my start in the games I play now. I was first introduced to RPG's on an offhand chance. Just a cheap game used from EB Games, who's cover caught my eye: Legend Of Legaia. It hooked me. I realized I had been playing all the wrong kinds of games before and I had to find more like it. My cousin shortly thereafter, introduced me to my first Final Fantasy, FFIX. I spent a week at his house over Christmas vacation and watched him play the whole game through, and I had never been so in love with anyhting in my entire life. I was 15. ahha
for me it was when my older brother got a sega genesis for his birthday, he had mortal kombat 2 and i was so addicted to it (i was 6 can u really blame me?) Whats funny about is that i grew up in a small mormon town, and when some of my mormon friends would come over to my catholic house they would be so amazed by it, then they would go home and tell their parents about it, all the blood and gore and the fatalities. their parents (usually) freaked out and my mom got a bunch of angry phone calls which she just ignored, gotta love her for that. suffice to say we were the only house in that town that ever had a game console.
with final fantasy though i was about 10 and my friend bought ff8 when it came out. I was so amazed by the summons especially shiva and ifrit, i just had to buy it after that. plus if it werent for final fantasy i probably wouldn't be able to read worth shit
