Default Theories on the Mythology?

SE says that all of the XIII games are connected by the mythology featured, yet...I haven't or anyone else has heard or seen wtf the mythology is exactly?

Your thoughts and theories?

It's about crystals. The New Tale of the Crystal.

Haha, I've been focusing on FFXIII so I'm not that sure about Versus and Agito yet. But I think I remember reading somewhere that Agito is about some kind of war between groups of L'Cies and Fal'Cies or something? Please correct me if I'm wrong!

Could it generally revolve around the Crystals?

I mean, XIII Seems to seem like the "start" of the crystals, as in, the start of the whole L'cie / Fal'cie outbreak.

Versus seems to be the "end" of the crystals, Seen as Noctis' crystal is 'the last in the kingdom' or along those lines, correct?

and isnt Agito a war for/competing with or against Crystals?

Crystals that manifest itself into different forms and each have distinct morals. For instance, in final Fantasy XIII, A Fal'Cie may control a L'Cie to execute a particular focus that contradicts another Fal'Cies.

That's what I'm thanking about. Yes, thanking (slang sound for thinking), lol.

To be clearer a bit, I'm stating what crystal and it's will/reasons for doing what it does. More so more insight as to what fal'Cie are and what kind of job each had.

Don't forget there are said to be higher beings than the Fal'Cie. The Fal'Cie could be executing missions given onto them from these higher beings or rather being manipulated. I'm a bit skeptical bout this one though..

You're onto something with the whole job/mission idea.

where you see this ?

It turn around something that happened 13 centuries ago, causing a Fal'cie build Pulse. It may be something related to an ancient war between the Fal'cies.

I foresee a freedom of choice being one of the main concepts with this series with FF since were dealing entities seen as gods (and yes most gods in mythology are control freaks).

Still it may also be a clash between the belief as to how to treat humans and how they should live since Pulse's and Cocoon obviously are completely different (l'Cie wize, where they reside, their peeps, etc.)

It may even be fair to say that the fal'Cie are entities that help propell humanity into some sort of destiny or existence (much in the same way training wheels help you ride a bike).

If L'Cie are successful and turn into a Crystal, is that some sort of gradual process into transforming into a Fal'Cie?

Probably not, but the hard work they'd have to go through executing their missions would make it seem as if they'll have some celestial status.

Gods in mythology... Oxymoron? No offense. The gist of the mythology tells of crystals that are sentient gods. It's a brilliant concept, to be honest with you. I wish they'd have done more with that idea rather than the mix of junior high school introspection and angst that XIII appears to be.

Are we talking evolution, here? Cuz from what we've seen so far, if l'Cies do complete their focus & become Crystals, it would seem that these fal'Cie are helping themselves, rather than improving humanity. But then again, turning into a crystal seems to only benefit the Pulse fal'Cie so far. We have yet to see what happens to a Cocoon l'Cie if they complete their objective (or if Cocoon l'Cies will even have any involvement here). From what I can tell, the fal'Cie (both Cocoon & Pulse) are at war with each other (as stated already). Humans just seem to further their own agenda (a.k.a pawns).

It's hard to say with XIII with the limited information we have on everything. Although an evolution concept is definitely...bold to say the least.

My concept was that they would just be able to live without the fal'Cie much like a child becomes an adult and leaves the homeland to do whatever young adults do.

Although to go with yours...what if the Pulse fal'Cie wanted everything to be reduced to nothing (like every other ff villain) in an effort to restart how the world worked (this would involved taking down Cocoon due the nature of a floating continent in the sky that is segregated the other humans).

There is also the consideration of what "can" you do as a crystal (as that too is never really expanded on). For example, A central crystal created everything, the fal'Cie's, humans, the whole works. Can humans who become crystals also manifest things and ascend some sort of conceived godhood (much in the same way people are immortal once they day). But since people have that fear of the unknown and like being who they are (their individuality) they may reject being l'Cie. Thus we may have an individuality vs omni-entity concept going on.

If that is true, what if that Pulse fal'Cie no longer wanted to be a fal'Cie and thus wanted a strong individual to replace him by turning him/her into a crystal through a Focus. He would inevitiably die (maybe, he'd have to get his crystal broken or something along those lines to end his conscience) and thus life could go into the direction of whoever was human. The wierdness he did may be like putting gasoline on grass with the l'Cie or whoever to be the matches, thus starting the fire.

This too also brings up another question as to if the Crystal created everything, could the Crystal, been at one point, human? If so it could explain why there are humans who are looked after greater beings (like how you have a Pope who stands in for Jesus; why children have parents; why you have training wheels for bikes.) The question is, who is that crystal and if by some chance is that crystal a type of higher fal'Cie.
