Hes angry! But , from what ive ever seen the ceo of activistion say in the video game media , i have to say duchebag would be an apt term. 55 pounds equals 91.00 and some change usd holy shizzzz thats alot of money for 1 game almost price of 2 games .
Maybe activision needs to pay for lawyers fees when they sue people who wanna publish thier video games after activision drops the fucking games. I think the ceo of activision is a moron granted hes a ceo so he had to be smart enough to become one but, some of the decisions they've made the last couple years im not so sure about .
Granted they have some decent games but i think if they ever tried to up the price in the usa that much there would be a big backlash . I mean the new call of duty is a big game to alot of people and that type of price would seriously cause people to get angry i think .Including me.
In the end it all boils down to this, 55 British pounds = 91.6685 U.S. dollars is alot of fucking money for one game!
As if £40/£50 pound isn't ENOUGH.
How do they expect consumers like myself who are making barely any money to be able to physically pay for games as it is, to be able to pay even MORE?
This is fucking selfish fucking greed, they already make huge profits as it is, now they want more?
I want to believe the boycott will work, but I doubt it will.

Ill tell you now , i like the idea and what you are saying is true Cathryn. But there are alot of people out there who love fps's out there and would say i dont care im gonna buy it anyways(i am not one of those people but to each his own.). But , and this is going to sound really bad but if SE wanted to up the price of say Final Fantasy 13 or 15 to say 80- 85 bucks for the game i really cant say that i wouldn't buy it depending on a few things though but i dont see myself saying no, and thats the problem with boycotting when it comes to video gaames hardcore fans want it regardless.

Because of things like this that people turn to pirated games. And I can say it isn't only speculation of my part because I see it happening to friends, cousins and I myself have done it.
Instead of buying a game, I download it and IF I really like, then I'll buy it.
Not only that, but where I live, Brazil, games could go as far as US$117. I remember that was the price I paid for Final Fantasy X.
This is sad, but even in Japan games have a super high price, I lived there for a few months, and I remember seeing games being released at 7800 yen, what roughtly would be US$78.00.
Can you say you won't pay it ? Well, if it's an Ok game sure, I won't. But in the case it was Resident Evil 5, which I am a big fan of. If Final Fantasy comes in this price, unfortunatly I will buy it. Games there don't have this top price of US$59 it has in the United States.
About modding, I belive that is just a consumer reaction to overpriced games. I've seen an article some time ago about the countries that have most piracy in gaming, I don't remeber the order but they were: China, Mexico, Brazil, Russia, Spain.
In the first 4 it's easy to guess the reason, countries in development, people don't have as much money as they have in developed countries, it's sad, but understandable. But Spain, nobody is bad in Spain, at least comparing with the others. So what I belive is that the Spanish consumer is smart enough not to get robbed in every game they buy.

I don't think increasing the price would be more profitable in the long run. If anything it would just further promote used game sales which hurts their bottom line. A direction I think would bring in more profit:
-Prices should drop since lower prices are always more consumer friendly. Lower price means greater potential sales.
- Build on the idea of incentives for new game purchases. Codes for free "extra" content or something that wouldn't be available in a used version. I don't personally have a problem with used game sales, but from the perspective of the developer and publisher there isn't any difference between a second hand copy and a pirated copy since they see no money from it either way. And it's not like they can kill the used game market anyway, thanks to it's naturally lower price point and a large number of frugal consumers.
- Add a non-invasive, consumer friendly DRM scheme similar to PSN games to help deter pirates. However, this probably isn't possible for retail games due to limitations on the consumer's end.
I'd be surprised if a combination of at least the first two of those didn't result in higher profit, versus simply increasing the price of the games.
..and they think they'll get more sell' in games like this high of a price.
Well, I ain't buying if they raise, if they're expecting more people to buy games LOWER THE PRICE.
If I decide to buy Modern Warfare 2 then I plan to purchase a used copy. Activision won't be getting my money that way.
Alot of boycott stuff going around anyway (pirating the PC and 360 versions, buying it used or just not buying Activision games at all) so they will learn a lesson at the end of all this.
Wow, and I thought $59.99 USD was a lot. I had no idea it was close to double that elsewhere. I still plan to buy used. Hell, 60% of my library came from Gamestop.
My friend was telling about how prices in games are going down like 10 bucks. I don't think that's just the U.S. though and it's probably just a rumor.
Man Activision needs to stop fucking up.

Importttttt
I really don't get what raising the price of games would do. They would most likely say they did it to battle the high cost of current-gen devolopment, but hell, they already make shitloads of cash.
Is that not why they make a different GH game for every opular band known to man every year?
All raising the price would do is alienate customers and spur even more piracy.
