TBH I own/ed both consoles and they're both great, so I would never tell anyone to get either one or the other, it all just depends on people's preferences. Im just happy that PS3 is finally getting the kudos it deserves, through the company finally shifting its arse into gear and what not. Its gonna be a great holiday season for gamers who own any one/all the consoles.

Yeah SO4 is a really high chance cause it's not even being declared as a Xbox exclusive as of yet. I'm just waiting til mid of 09 before I get my PS3 cause then I'll know by then which games that are on Xbox are goin to PS3 if any so I don't haveta worry about that either way xD. As for PS3 reaching the sales of PS2....Who knows. PS2 kinda has the benefit that there were techniquely 2 PS2s, the Thick-Line, and Thin-Line, so the sales were mostly doubled because alot of people jumped on the sleeker model.

I've had both, and the slimline runs far better then the chunky older model. It's almost guarranteed that Sony will release a 'slimline' Playstation 3, probably in a year or so. They've released slim versions of all their consoles so far, and I don't expect the PS3 to be an exception to the rule.

Hmm...maybe if they DID do that in a year or so...and I could hold off buying till then...I could get one cheaper somehow...I think my plan is flawed somehow but I don't care XD

If you ask me I think this whole 'game console war' is a bit ridiculous. I mean who cares, they're both great consoles right? Its cool that microsoft has developed a nice console that can rival sony's playstation. And we all know that sony's playstation series have been extremly popular and eventually the PS3 would have to come out on top. I've never owned an XBOX but from what some people tell me its a pretty good game console its so ludicrious that people are acting this way about these things.

I find a slimline of PS3 doubtfull. They can't store the drive in a small case, unless they get into contracts with major external hardrive makers :/....Cant very easily cram 20-60gigs in the case of a slim-line xD maybe they could downgrade it to the size of the ps2 <.<....but honestly i think the PS3 is more asthetically pleasing in its current casing. and for the ps1 i wouldnt consider the portable version they made a slimline version....and id never get rid of my ps2 cause i love havin the harddrive in it >.>;;

I think they're both good, but PS3 is a system you get for the long run and 360 for the short run. I mean seriously, ps3's debut wasn't too good, but look at how far it has come! 360's debut was spectacular, but it's slowly losing what made it good.

The 2.5" drives used in the PS3 are just the same as those used in laptops, so making a slim PS3 wouldn't be a major problem, all the components just have to be scaled down a little. But have fitted your PS2 with a regular 3.5" drive, so of course, it would be a different problem is the PS3 used those. But you can perfectly upgrade the PS3 with a 500GB 2.5"-er.

I'm not going to upgrade my PS3, just going to use an external hard drive for extra storage. I can pick up a 500GB one for $150 (!)
There was a photoshopped concept image of the slimling PS3 in a recent issue of OPS Australia. It looked great, but I doubt Sony would make it look like a Wii.

Buy consoles for these games when they come out then. There's no point in getting a console just for one game years before it comes out. Chances are the price will drop and features and more, better add ons (Dualshock 3 kind of thing) will be out by then.

rofl. there will almost definitely be one at some point. No, they cant fit all those components into a small box which is why they do it later on when the same parts have been sized down.

finally it does seem un-biased ay least i can't tell and the 360 and ps3 are both great consoles i own neither of them but I usually play on my friends 360 live is ok but i seriously think its not really worth 50 a year maybe more like 30 or a bit less and ive also taken a ps3 for a spin on Uncharted which i liked alot so im definately getting the new 160GB model coming out either near the end of 08 or start of 09 which give you a 120gb ps3 Dualshock3 and a copy of Uncharted if i remember correctly

also about the Wii i liked SSBB but i just never really got the feel for the wireless motion sensing controlers
