The gameplay, storyline, music, FF characters, Disney characters...
What's the best thing about this awesome RPG series?

Honestly I do love almost everything about the Kingdom Hearts series and even though most people think the storyline is shit and recycled too much, I do love the story. But I think the music of the series is the things that just pulls everything together.

I only liked KH2, because the storyline got darker, so I suppose the story.

I only really bought it because it was an RPG and I heard that it has something to do with Final Fantasy. The story was ok but not great, the Dinsey charecters I didn't like much and the gameplay was kinda fun (I prefere ATB/Command based combat over real time). The music was the best thing about the game.

The combatsystem/gameplay. Though I only like KH1, as the whole gamplay part got really badly screwed down the toilet in KH2.

The storyline was most captivating especially in KHII.

A lot of feelings were elaborated from the very beginning and I could connect with the Sora easily. :aldo:

The best thing about it is that I don't own it, never played it, never will.

Disney is for stupid little kids. Come on, at best most people grow out of Goofy, Donald, and that shit by the time they reach seventh grade.

You're an f-ing douchebag. Don't talk bad about anything to do with KH if you haven't played it. Why the fuck are you even in the KH threads then, you moron! Shut the hell up.

Anyway, I love the soundtrack (not as much the Disney music, for the worlds, unless it's Halloween Town- that shit gets stuck in my head- but the original stuff) and the original KH characters, particilarly Riku (who's a sexy beast in KHII) and Organization XIII.

So what your saying is "Kiddie" games are shit?

I hate these type of gamers. Just becuase a game is "kiddie" does not mean it's not a good game. Final fantasy games are also kiddie sometimes and I'm not just talkin about the CC spin off games.

I don't even like Disney and I completley disagree with what your saying.

Seriously, people have forgotten what games are about: having fun.

Ill admit that kingdom hearts, especially the first game, is sumwhat "kiddie", but come on man. No intention to play it, but youre judging it so harshly? Fuck off man, this thread wasnt made for people like you.

Anyway, the best thing about the series is the gameplay. KHII completely blew my mind when i saw auron and sora do that special attack thingy in the underworld. Final form goes so so so hard. And i also like the music and the original charactes like Saix and Xehanorts heartless.

No, people define it as "kiddie" because it uses primary school themes of FRIENDSHIP and LIGHT OVERCOMING DARKNESS and PRANCING OFF INTO THE SUNSET HAVING SUCCEEDED IN TURNING ENEMIES INTO BESTEST FRIENDS FOREVEREST.

Nomura couldn't tell a story to save himself, unless the audience was comprised of 6 year olds.

I think he was bullied as a child.

The combatsystem/gameplay. Though I only like KH1, as the whole gamplay part got really badly screwed down the toilet in KH2.

Indeed. The finishing moves turned to crap and interrupted the gameplay. They needed a timer sort of refill for the form gauge too. It became closer to a "hack and slash" than a system that required some tactics. The storyline should have introduced someone else other than the main villian, and the various disney characters that you simply helped complete their story. Its like a guy named Sora wrote a bunch of fanfictions from disney with himself in it, and then they made it into a game.

KH1 had the best storyline, the best battle system, but equal music to its sequel. The only minus I can come up with is the camera.

Although I respect you guys opinion about KHII's battle system, I think it's just a matter of setting your expectations way too high.

The battle system saw new features in the second installment and still had a lot of remnants from it's former. I don't see how it deviated dramatically from KHI. Seriously, give the game some leeway (just like FF12 tried a whole new system). If people continue to constrain themselves to acknowledging one feature (e.g. Battle system), then they're going to end up complaining about the repetitiveness in every installment.

I don't understand people who only like KHI. KHII was WAY better. The Drive Forms and Reaction Commands made the battle system SO MUCH more fun. I can't even play the first game anymore because the controls/battles just aren't as good. KHII will forever be my favorite in the series (and Space Paranoids was a KICKASS world!).

KH2 had no platforming, though the Drive mode was fun, any and all special attacks was removed, and the effecient dodge role was removed and instead we got the useless "dash". And the Reaction commands were in no way "reaction" commands.

I could probably write a paper on what was missing in KHII, and how they should've improved the battlesystem from KHI rather than changing it.

My favorite part is the concept. The fusion of Disney and Square Enix is just a really fun idea.

Most people are listing story as their favorite aspect, lol. I for one did not actually like the story of KH2 very much...as in...it had a lot of potential to be really interesting, but everything seemed so...surface. Like Sora was really 1 dimensional and all he did was "fight the bad guys". And most of the organization members, while really cool/fun to fight, were just that...boss battles, they didn't elaborate on them nearly as much as they did in chain of memories, which I thought was sad!

I also love how your outfits n' such change when you go from world to world!! I think it would have been even cooler if they dressed up in like..Mulan world and Hercules world n' such instead of just little mermaid land, tron fest, and halloween town, but it was still all good.

The battle system was fun, the new additions made it a lot easier...which I'm not really complaining, but yeah, it was a lot easier than the first one, lol.

Overall it was an enjoyable, quality game by Square Enix, but I for one was disappointed with the execution of the story. Still is super fun to play though. :)

People who utterly dismiss Kingdom Hearts as childish remind me of the metaphorical kids on the playground who can't utter a sentence without calling something gay. Seriously, if you're too in your own way to enjoy a little bit of something like a Disney movie or a cartoon, your inner child is dead and I pity you. Let your inhibitions go and just enjoy fun things!

Kingdom Hearts is plainly good in almost every aspect, as a game, and it's hard to pin down one thing that I like most about the series. The music is fantastic, the art direction is top notch, the storyline (though at times hokey) is heart-warming and gets surprisingly deep, and it's the most fun I've ever had with an action RPG in the battle scenes.

The best thing about Kingdom Hearts? I'd have to say Yoko Shimomura being the composer. She absolutely pulled out all the stops for the music, and even though I love all of the aspects of the game to death, her music just pulled it all together for me.

Her original "Dearly Beloved" (the one on the piano, not the orchestral version in the KH2 start menu) is easily one of the best songs, as well as the Hollow Bastion theme in KH1.

That reminds me, the only thing I found slightly annoying was the gummi ships. I couldn't take not getting all the parts and treasures, so i'd constantly restart it just so I can get all the shit. It frustrated the hell out of me.

I second that. But KH II gumi missions were a lot more fun.

However, I'm torn between those two games. KHI had a phenomenal story and ending, whereas KHII was better with gameplay and mini-games, but its ending was rather...lame in comparison to the first game. I don't know why. Maybe that's because I prefer sad/dramtic endings rather than happy ones....

I liked it because I'm a total Disney whore and love FF, what's not to like? Apart from Donald and Goofy, anyway. Seriously, I was so disapointed when he wasn't dead, barely used him anyway.

I preferred the second one to the first, mainly because they fixed the crappy Gummi missions, I preferred the gameplay and I preferred the story.

Though of course the real reason is that, like any good fangirl, I loved Organisation XIII.

I generally just don't like Disney films anymore, KH is aimed at kids, I liked the first one more because I think some of the boss battles are the best in games period. Music in the second was better . second looked better. Some things in the game I just find annoying though, The little Mermaid being no.1 in KH2, that is the most annoying thing from Disney ever, I used to love all the disney classics butthey were just weird in KH. Sora is also a fag and as someone else said h is a one dimensional character with nothing but hate towards the Organisation with no hearts.

Cannot believe I finished the two of them.
