I was about to post it. ;)

Apparently the special first press edition features a fifth drama disc. And that box looks AWESOME.

Hmmm, where is that import button?

they should really stop using those renders of the characters; ya know, get a little uniqueness out there.

Why are there so many discs? omg, i've never seen such a large soundtrack disc-set. 5250 yen is like $55, $52 with tax, I think, well, I'm pretty sure it is. I won't be buying this however, when it comes to America. I'll just download a torrent, which will probably be leaked a week before the release date like all good soundtracks.

I also have one question. What is a drama cd?

Astraia

AH,YES. IM DEFINITELY GONNA BUY THIS.

I wonder if they're gonna have a vocal collection cd just like in ffx. D:

Waiting will be another case, but it's worthy for this OST, for those who really wants to hear it...

Final Fantasy games OSTs since VII have had 4 discs. And even VI had 3.

And I'm so importing this one.

I also have one question. What is a drama cd?

It's like a radio drama.
You hear them talk and all that shit.

January 27 is so faaaaaaaaaar awaaaaaaaaay.

Great! :D

I wonder if Maaya Sakamoto (Lightnings' VA) will have a song in it too :D
Kinda like a character theme song, like those anime shows are having :D

It looks (probably sounds) really good.
But IMO I think it's best to wait until you actually play the whole game, that way you would have already listened to the whole soundtrack and would not have been spoiled by listening to the OST first.

Even hearing the music can give you an idea about what locations in the game there are... and you don't want that to ruin your enjoyment of the game.

It's like someone telling you the ending to a movie you want to see, or at least telling you about some of the plot.

WE DON'T LIKE SPOILERS!

"ahem" excuse my sudden outburst;)

This will probably be Hamauzu's crowning achievement. I'll definitely buy this at day one! (that makes the first FFXIII thing I'll ever buy!)

gooooood... so good

i would rather hear it in the game first though even if i do get this. When u hear it in the game there is more impact. You remember the moments in the game that you especially liked and you correspond that moment with the music.I will probably love those music discs mainly for it's nostalgic value.

Not all 4 disc OST's are made equal. IX had 4 discs and was over 100 tracks, while FFX had 4 discs, and was a measly 87 or so tracks. I hope this isn't another 30 hour game by this team.

Hamauzu is a good composer and probably closer to what fans expect than what Sakimoto did, although I thought XII was a masterpiece of composition.

I totally agree with this. I probably won't get the soundtrack until after the game is released in NA. It's more enjoyable if you know the context of the tracks in game.

But man, is it expensive... It look really nice but ~US$50 for a soundtrack, that's overdoing it!
I mean, it's not like it's a new project, they already made the music which is in the game.

If they sold it for about 20, I'm sure a lot more people would buy it instead of just downloading it.

When they once asked Hamauzu for an advise in an interview, he said that you should only see the game as a medium for the music, and keep also focused on creating music that can stand on its own.

His SaGa scores are very good examples of that.

I like the "omfg 50 dollarrrzzz ;;" people.

It's a collector's item. What did you expect? :wtf:

Neophoton
Oct 23 2009, 05:13 PM
Or the people whining about the price could just wait until it gets uploaded onto the Internet. It's bound to happen, so it's easier to wait until then. :aldo:

Where's the awesome soundtrack artwork? Cheap lazy bastards.

I look forward to this. Of course I will buy it legally. :wtf:

Ram
Oct 23 2009, 06:13 PM
Have you ever bought a Japanese soundtrack? What's the big deal of 50$? If I buy five seperate albums, the price will be a loooot higher. ;)

Eighty88Eight
Oct 23 2009, 06:37 PM
Thats a lot of music for 50 dollars(an unbearably excessive 50 cents a track), you people aren't entitled to anybodys music for free. Consider the grueling schedule and the atrocious conditions that had to be endured by Mr. Hamauzu over at the Square Enix Department of Creative Labor. Some people are fucking ingrates...

Caelignis
Oct 23 2009, 06:40 PM
Damn that cheap?
You know they could have priced it well over 70$ and people would still buy it. :wtf:

Ram
Oct 23 2009, 06:53 PM
I would. :)

@ Eighty88Eight: His schedule, though not the most ideal situation, wasn't that harsh. 20~30 tracks per month means approx. one track per day. That is very doable if you're fully devoted to compostition only.

If you must also do all mixing and making sheet music for the orchestra, well, than I guess that schedule is unbearable.

Eighty88Eight

But what about the beatings? You're forgetting that.

Shanana
Oct 24 2009, 02:23 AM
The beatings are like Germany and the Holocaust - they'll deny it all.
