View Full Version : So I suppose Carbuncle and Siren are of the boat?

After all the wait, Sazh hasn't got that Ifrit we saw long time ago, so I suppose that Carby and Siren will follow the same road.

They couldn't have a Gestalt form as they are not "mechanic" at all.

So, what you think?

We must remember that the game is 90% complete. That is, we cannot say anything before we have 100% in our hands.

I'm fairly certain Carbuncle will be Vanille's Summons & Seiren belonging to either Serah or Hope. Each L'Cie has a summons; I'm guessing we've yet to see those three characters summon them in gameplay. Guess we won't know until December 2009 or if Toriyama goes public with it.

THEY HAVEN'T BEEN CUT FROM THE GAME.

I'm not shure if im right but i don't think that summons have to be machines in gestalt mode...i mean siren may turn into sum animal too like odin does..

They all have driving modes though, right? How the hell can you ride Siren and Carbuncle (non-sexually)?

Odin's a horse. Horses are rode. Surtur (Sazh's summon) changes into a racecar. Racecars are driven. Shiva sisters change into a motorcycle. Motorcycles are wheelied.

I can picture Siren turning into some kind of land submarine or land shark mobile some shit. I think Carbuncle is just concept art like Ifrit was.

Mech Summons

lightning -Odin
Sazh - Unknown fire summon
Snow - Shiva Sisters

None Mech Summons

Oerba Dia Vanille - Carbuncle
Hope - That Ifrit We Saw Along time Ago???
(he accidentally summoned him and the explosion blew snow off the balcony?)
Serah -Siren...
(Makes sense but the makers said that her playability is still a secret..)

Yaagh - Bahamut...
(heard he has a winged Tattoo and that he might leave sanctum because he doesnt trust or doubt his orders??)

They will somehow be connected to travel there all going to form together to become an air ship! :wtf:
Just throwing it out there, I thought it's already been stated that they will be in the game but they will not be used in battle EVEN THOUGH all of the playable characters will have a summon with a gestalt mode <---- that last bit being my theory. So who knows just like Sazh's it might be summons that we definitely haven't seen before as far as FFXIII is concerned.

I hope Yaag defects and joins our party, at least temporarily. He has doubts, and he's sympathetic to Snow. He at least listens to Snow instead of shooting him right then and there. And did you notice how all the PSICOM were aiming directly for the bandaged areas? Fucking cruel sadists.

i personally think that the mysterious woman will have Bahamut.
reason being for me:

first off) Yaag is not a L'cie (as far as we know)
1) She's a L'cie
2) She works for sanctum
3) She (from what i read & heard) wields a lance/spear which usually relates to
being a dragoon archtype character. Since in the past dragoons deal with dragons,
which might add up to her piloting an airship (since she works for sanctum) that is indeed Bahamut.

Also she can very much be the Cid/ Sid of XIII?! ( i always wanted a female Cid)
since Cids are usually a FF tradition
the airship the crew has now, might be destroyed, with her joining the team filling that gap?
Just like FF7's Cid, who was a lance wielder & a pilot
Of course this is all pure speculation, I much rather be surprised when i play the game

Well, looking at the fact that every summon so far has been mecha enough to transform into something and understanding that each summon needs a gestalt mode to fit in in battle, I don't honestly see Carbuncle, Siren or Ifrit fitting in. That doesn't mean they won't be in the game, but I'm starting to believe this whole idea of those summons not being used in battle. :(

Edit: And the new lady doesn't seem to be a Cid. Her name looks like it's Acadon. That could be a last name, or if it's her first her last could be Cid, but I don't think so.

It's like FFXIII E3 2008 trailer is from a different game, go back and rewatch it.

Seriously, they haven't talked about Ifrit, Carbuncle or Siren since when? a year and few months?

Yes they revealed them for us, but we know nothing about them T_T.

Her name looks like it's Acadon.

Thanks for sharing my brother ^___^, much appreciated.

May I know from where you got this info? I'm so curious *______*

Hey guys Sazh's summon isn't ifrit, I would guess it represents the Norse god of fire Surt, I got the idea since most summons are from a religion and what religion often uses hammers, axes, and swords.

I am pretty sure they have been removed ! I mean Carbuncle and Siren
this game has seen many changes !

- battle system is totally different from what we saw in the 1st trailer
- the tunnel in the 1st trailer has become a train now
- Lightning CG model has changed !
- Both Snow and Lightning did not have Necklaces and now hey have
- they have removed Ifrit
this is insane to have 2 summons of the same elements, if its like this they should designed another ice- based and thunder - based summons.

why do u think its not possible to remove Craby and Siren ?
btw I am pretty sure Hope has a holy-based Summon !

Actually, Surt was always characterized as wielding a giant flaming sword, not a pick or an axe or anything like that. Still, it's probably Surt.

And the source is the latest issue of Dengeki PS3, DarkWan.

Exactly what I was thinking. Ifrit so far is about the only one actually faithful to its origins in mythology as a spirit of fire.

Still waiting on that Jesus summon. Think Hope will get it? Seems like that would be Holy element.

I look at it this way: there are two different Fal'Cies, one for Pulse and one for Cocoon. If the one that give our heroes their powers is the Pulse fal'cie, then isnt it possible for the Coccon falcie to give out eidolons of the same element? Also, the monsters are different in the two areas: some are futuristic, and some are more wild looking. therefore, isnt it possible that the eidolons from the Pulse falcie are more futuristic looking, while the ones from cocoon are more wild looking, and that the people that work for cocoon, like this new chick, have access to ifrit or any other summon not available to the party? :D

why do u think its not possible to remove Craby and Siren ?

- Square Enix wouldn't waste time animating them, only to do away with them.

- Images of them are still on the Japanese website alongside Odin and Shiva.

- Famitsu Interviews with Nomura have confirmed that they're still in the game.

Now stupid making up bullshit theories as to their 'removal'.

So much for Siren being Hope's huh?

Well... Now when I think about it. While I can still see Vanille getting a Carbuncle type summon, (something nice and cute), TGS trailer revealed some things that I can see her not getting something like that at all.

In fact, base on what little we know and are speculating... Fenrir sounds like a possibility.
http://www.pantheon.org/articles/f/fenrir.html
Some of Fenrir's background sounds quite similar to Vanille's. Obviously a lot of what we are saying is speculation but based on all the speculation I've come across, Fenrir seems like a good fit.

If I had to put a name to the attack that Hope used in that cutscene with Snow then it would be Flare, so there's some small hope there for Bahamut (no pun intended).

Well one thing's for sure. Fenrir could probably turn into a vehicle large enough to drive, where Carbuncle was roughly the size of an overfed squirrel. Haven't heard any better theories, after all.

Summons from cocoon(digital) and summons from pulse.

I personally found that funny!

Maybe the males get summons that transform into ride-able vehicles and the females get summons that transform into ride-able animals. All mechanical looking to.

Snow = Motorcycle
Sazh = Race Car
Lightning = Horse

Hope could probably get something mech like or maybe some nifty snowboard that he can fly/hover around on.

Vanille can ride on something that looks similar to a chocobo(ostrich, flamingo) or a big lion or tiger. It could suit her tribal look.

How the hell could you ride Shiva? Twin sisters Shiva no less. SE somehow managed to just change the summons so much into random shit that it doesn't make any sense. So if Carbuncle changes into a boat or Bahamut transforms into a skateboard, it won't make any less sense than Shiva (going from one to two) transforming into a motorcycle.

Even if there are so called digital summons, we would expect that from the advance cityworld Cocoon. It would resemble the same method they use to summon normal monsters and mecha creatures from those portals?
