I am shock, why Famitsu says that it will sell 1M ? its to low imo ! here is the article and the link :

Famitsu is usually accurate when it provide sell for cast for upcoming games. So don't be surprised if their latest prediction is laser sharp. Famitsu sees about 1million copies of Final Fantasy 13 flying off store shelves all across Japan, in the first week of the game's release on December 17th 2009. This comes as no surprise, as Final Fantasy is Japan's GTA, or their Halo, or whatever. But with estimates like these, it's hard to ignore the potential PS3 sales boost that'll undoubtedly follow suit.

Microsoft could sure use FFXIII in that part of the world, but It won't happen, (at least not yet), since the game is exclusive to the PS3 in Japan. The publication also provided forecasts for games such as Wii Fit Plus, Gran Turismo PSP, Tekken 6 amongst others

FF12's is wrong, it definitely wasn't only 1 million. I'm pretty sure FFX's was higher as well. And 13 definitely won't only sell 1 million on in its first week.

I couldn't guess at how many it'll actually sell, but after what? 5 years of mad anticipation, the numbers are gonna be extraordinarily high.

My expectation:

First Day sale: 450,000 - 750,000
First Week sale: 1,200,00 - 1,700,00 (pre-order is normally seriously high)
Over the month sale: 1,500,000 - 2,000,000
Year sale: 1,800,000 - 2,300,000

Overall game sale in Japan: 2,100,00 - 3,500,000

Given the game hype and if it turns out to be really good (looking back at PS1 days) then SE can expect a very high sale.

And who knows FF13 might worldwide just sell into 10 million barrier if it does deliver the goods and with multiplatform release as well.

Well, I just hope the game does sell good for sake of SE because good sale means more Final Fantasy game down the line.

According to Japan Resellers the preorders for Final Fantasy XIII are very high. In Fact, they are already three times higher than they were back when MGS4 could be preordered.

Are there any preorder numbers available? I guess I may be overestimating how much interest in console games is waning in Japan and underestimating the pull of a mainline FF game, since I figured it would be under a million. Over 2 million would definitely surprise me though since it's not on a portable.

Way late edit: I'll play along, and say probably 850k, give or take a few thousand copies. Over half of them as first day sales.

There is so far about 3.6 Millions PS3 sold in Japan, so I wouldn't expect a very high first week for FF XIII. Furthermore there is not a single game in Japan that sold a total 1 Million copy on the PS3. Metal Gear Solid 4 is the best selling game in Japan for the PS3 with 700,000 Copies. I think in the long run if FF XIII meet expectation it will definitely sells a lot and boost PS3 sales in Japan an even worldwide.

That figure sounds about right. I think 1 mil. may be wishful thinking for the 1st week. Dragon Quest has always been a bigger profit for SE than FF (for domestic sales). Oh well. In any event, FF titles will sell, regardless of any outside circumstances. As for the first week being 1 mil. (not including pre-orders); that stretching it IMO. :|

The FF games have always averaged about 7-8 mil copies worldwide. I can see this happening gradually, given how it's also coming on the 360.

As far as America goes.. they are releasing it on two consoles which in a way could be looked at as potentially better. If one fails, they have a chance with another console and so, there you have it.
