View Full Version : What would you like to see as a Gestalt Mode?

So we know that the Shiva sisters form a motorcycle, Odin a horse, and Ifrit a racecar. There have also been some theories that Bahamut might transform into an airship of some sort. But here's some food for thought to while away the anticipation for TGS: what would you really like to see as a Gestalt mode and for which Eidolon? Feel free to stretch the boundaries of plausibility with this one, as long as we stay away from Carbuncle/Hindenburg territory. Think of something that will kick some falCie ass.
I really would like to see:
- A set of rollerblades. Ok, I know it sounds ridiculous, but imagine them in a more FF13 form, with all kinds of futuristic adjustments. I think Vanille would look awesome in rollerblades (just imagine her skating about the battlefield, lol), and so if Carbuncle is her summon, this might just be his Gestalt mode. It sounds more useful than a hot air balloon anyway.
- Surfing/Skateboard. Anyone seen Eureka 7? Don't you just love those flying boards? Or Back to the Future? How awesome would that look on the battlefield? Hope is the youngest one, so I think he would be best for this one. I can't think of any Eidolon that could transform into a board though, lol....Siren? Not really.
- A pair of wings. I think those might actually be Siren's Gestalt Mode. In the trailer Siren is wearing some sort of feathered hat, which always made me think that she might turn into some kind of bird or whatever.... Serah being the "girly girl that needs saving" would probably have something like that.
Those are my two cents. What are your ideas?
BTW, if this thread has been done before, feel free to close it moderators.

A guitar as a weapon would so much ass just like Nevan (DMC). And it would be a nice oportunity to create another Eidolon that would surpass Bahamut in badassism.
And yeah, I know this isn't the right thread to talk about it. Screw it.

I guess it would have to depend on the summoner. If I had to guess, he would transform into a giant cannon of some sort.
I know; not really creative, but it's something. ^_^

Jugde by the power Carbucle holds, I think he becames a living shield capable of reflect magics and boost physical defense or something like that.
And Siren, hummm... as far we see the ohters Eidolon's until now, maybe a Jet-Sky with Hypnotic powers.

Since all shown gestalt mode are rideable, I guess Siren's form will be some sort of skyjet (dunno the name in english, that thing that Baywatchers use to rescue people in water :aldo:).
I frankly cannot see Carbuncle as a gestalt mode

At first when i read this thread i tought it was childish and it didnt make sense, but yeah you are righ ifrit turns out to be a racer car so EVERYTHING is possible.
Letīs see. Carbuncle is too small so i guess itīll a be a bicicle, ( I can see easly Vannile riding a girly bike). We are not sure that Siren is Hopeīs summon but i want to see Hope riding a skate. Atack while driving a skate is always cool. I reallycant beleive im saying things like this.
One weird thing is that when looking to shiva or odin you can see easly what they are in ghestal mode because they look like mech robots. Otherwise Ifrit, Carbuncle and Siren look perfectly organic.

Something besides a goddamn vehicle. Eidolon Transformers still make me cringe inside, and Ifrit as a racecar makes me want to vomit. I can live with Shiva as a motorcycle (barely) and Odin as a horse, but that's crossing the freaking line.
Though, vehicle wise, if Alexander made an appearance as a tank... Well, I could live with that. Really though, something more like the summon fusing directly with the user would be great. As much as FFXII wasn't my sort of Final Fantasy, seeing Bahamut fuse with someone the way the actual airship did with Vayne to create the final boss would not bother me at all.

Speaking of which, we don't even know if there are going to be any summons in Versus. Teleportation, the ability to materialise swords out of thin air AND summons = overpowered main character?

I think it's a little late to start objecting to Noctis being overpowered. That ship sailed already. Anyway I'll stand by the theory I brought up in another thread. The fal'Cie mark people as l'Cie and that grant them the power to summon Eidelon's right? and years ago the fal'Cie first demonstrated their powers by creating Cocoon itself right? I think Cocoon is the Gestahl Mode of an summoned beast itself.

Well surely he's not going to instinctively know how to do everything we've seen from him so far, they won't make him massively overpowered at the start of the game. They'll make him learn that stuff throughout the course of the game. And there's bound to be plenty of enemies who can use similar techniques, and probably some better ones too. We know nothing about the enemies we're gonna face in the game, and without knowing that there's no way to tell whether he's overpowered or not.

Doesn't it though?
It could also conceivably be Bahamuts Gestalt mode. A flying fortress of sorts. It would be in line with Alexander being an earth-bound summon and Bahamut being a flying summon. Although I sorely doubt that's who it is, if it is a summons Gestalt mode.

If Alexander makes another appearance as an unobtainable summon, I think I might die a little inside. D:

Why? I think it suits him really well to be some legendary unobtainable summon, especially the way he was portrayed in FFIX, I think that was done really really well. So if something similar were to happen in FFXIII I would be pretty damn happy with that.
Come to think of it, due to the way summons work in this game and due to Alexanders sheer size, I think having him as an unobtainable summon only seen in cutscenes/FMV would be pretty much the only way he could be in this game, otherwise he'll just overfill the battlefield way too much.

i'd like to see what they will do with bahamut in this game, that's assuming that he will be in the game. in gestalt mode u can ride and blast enemies with the super nova =)))))) that would be awesome.

I know how you feel, though for me it's sort of conditional. I don't think I'd be satisfied if Alexander was depicted as a regular robot after seeing what it looked like in FF9. It may have been too grandiose for some people's tastes, but it was gorgeous to me and I'd love to have that summon.
Quezacopter anyone?
