Every gamer I have ever talked to said they hated FF XII. Why? I played through the whole game and absolutely loved it. I hadn't had a gaming experience like it since I beat X.

I liked XII, but mostly for the battle system and balthier/fran. Obviously it was a visually stunning game and the voice acting was top notch so it's an awesome game in those respects...
but I personally felt the characters [with the exception of fran and balthier] feel flat. Like Vann and Penelo are so boring and uninteresting and nothing about them really changes throughout the game, and I feel like I don't remember Basch saying/doing much except for when you first get him and then again at the very end. It's pretty much the Ashe show. I felt like...SE wanted to make sure the protagonist was as feminine a male as possible and they were satisfied as long as they fulfilled that role!
But yeah, I didn't like it because I felt like the characters [once again with the exception of fran, balthier...and probably ashe] didn't interact much and weren't really...well developed so it was hard for me to be interested in them. They were just so boring!!
I loved the characters and their growth/development in X though [except for kimahri...but I guess they did develop him too at least!]
Also, the judges had the potential to be super cool and you barely see them, it was sad.
