View Full Version : Final Fantasy XIII Japanese Pre-orders Begin
Kitmitsu

Play-Asia have now begun accepting pre-orders for the Japanese version of Final Fantasy XIII. Those of you wanting to import the game can order it now for the listed price of $89.90US which is cheaper than Square-Enix's earlier announced RRP of $100.
For Advent Children Complete, we setup an affiliate link where we were given a percentage of commission for each person who ordered through it. It was extremely successful last time and allowed us to upgrade our server and improve site performance. We'd like to do the same this time with the full game. It's simple, if you wish to import the Japanese version of Final Fantasy XIII and help us out at the same time, please use the link provided below. If you're a member of our forum and you provide us with your Order Number in the pre-order thread (http://finalfantasy-xiii.net/forums/showthread.php?t=8445), we'll pay you 3000 Gil for use in our Forum Store.
Pre-order Final Fantasy XIII (PS3) at Play-Asia.com (http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-2vkj-71-bp-77-5-49-en-15-final+fantasy+xiii-84-j-70-3k25.html)
If you live in the European Union like a lot of us, I'm afraid you can't pre-order Playstation 3 games through Play-Asia due to Sony's strong stance against imports. Don't worry, we will provide a link for those of you in the EU who will ship to you when more place begin accepting pre-orders. We'll try and provide you with the best price possible.

I'll run and go do this now.

I was wondering how reliable is play-asia, never ordered from them but I heard they dont give a tracking number and your items can simply get lost, with no refund.
Otherwise I'll order from a store in new york that sells imports ( though it will amount to $105 CAD for me instead of $97)

I've been ordering stuff regularly through them for 4 years and have never had a problem. Things have always arrived on time and their service is great :). You can get a tracking number if you order using a courier (which is the fastest delivery).
the more you pay more info you have ;D

Okay and lets say I take UPS shipping, which will cost ALOT, around how long do you think it'll take?
Should I get it before Christmas or before NEw Year?

I personally can't tell you :P. I've ordered using UPS before but I live in the UK and so it will probably arrive at a very different time to mine. This page should help and I believe they goes into more detail when you select the shipping on your actual order.

I've always ordered from Play-Asia and I've never had a problem. For FFXII, the XII OST, and FF7ACC, I've always either gotten it the same day as release or next day. Excellent service, least ways if you opt for the 1-4 Fed Ex shipping. Whats the forum store? Anything cool on there?

You'd have to place your order right now because the game will be release on December 17 (this is before your pay check).
Wandering Hands

... I thought his point was that he needed his pay check for the money to buy the game. In which case, he'd have to order it after he receives his pay check.

Sep 11 2009, 07:05 AM
Which means he will have to place the order now, otherwise it wouldn't be considered a pre-order after December 17th. If he said he receives the check in January then?
You can still order the game, it just won't be considered a pre-order.

So yes Yuuki Karen you can still order it.

And yes, it will work on your PS3.

You might want to check out Yesasia (http://www.yesasia.com/global/final-fantasy-xiii-japan-version/1004512461-0-0-0-en/info.html), if you're looking for an alternative.
In fact, Yesasia might be a good option for those in European countries Play-Asia won't ship to.

Actually I looked into them before the release date was announced. They also don't deliver to Europe. They just don't tell you until you attempt to order it.

They ship to Europe (Ive ordered tons of games over the last years there, that includes PS3 games too)!
The thing is, they have a odd policy on PS3 games:
US Games arent send to Europe ex: http://www.yesasia.com/global/naruto-ultimate-ninja-storm-limited-edition-us-version/1012196926-0-0-0-en/info.html
JP Games are delivered to Europe: ex: http://www.yesasia.com/global/naruto-narutimate-storm-japan-version/1013011830-0-0-0-en/info.html
Same game just different language version!

I hope they include the english subtitles too. I don't know if they are or not, but finalfantasy.wikia said "Similar to Final Fantasy X, XI, and XII, Final Fantasy XIII will have only English and Japanese sound dubs. Only subtitles will be localized to local languages."

No. It was confirmed ages ago. The game will come with either a Japanese or English dub and the subs in your localised language (Japanese for the Japanese version).
The game should be "international"
you choose the subtitles.

imo if you play the game first time round without understanding what is going on in the story then it will destroy the whole experiance of playing it the first time. I mean, when you play a final fantasy for the second time it doesn't feel good as the first time so you should fully understand what is going on in the story on your first playthru.
Also, the battle system will be hard to undertand as well. It might be easy to pick out the basic commands like "Attack, heal, use item etc" but as you get new abilities, then it will get harder.
To me gameplay and story is the most important aspects of rpg's and if you don't fully understand them then your not really gonna have a fun experiance playing th game.
It sucks to not be able to read or speak japanese :(

People are confused by the term "your localised language". It means if you're in Germany for example it will have an English dub and German subtitles. The voices or subtitles will not change on their way in the post from Japan to wherever you are.
What they mean is in JAPAN it will have JAPANESE VOICES and JAPANESE SUBTITLES. Elsewhere it will have ENGLISH voices and subtitles for whatever country you're in that isn't English speaking or Japan.
The only time you will get English subtitles is when the voices are also english. Clear enough?

If you imported this game and want to get a grasp of understanding the Japanese language used in the game, follow the steps below:
1) Enable the Japanese subtitle.
2) Whenever a character says something, pause your game.
3) Take a photo of the Japanese text (good quality is important.)
4) If you know how to type in Japanese, copy the Japanese text from the screenshot and paste into Google Translation (http://translate.google.com)
Translations these days are not perfect, but they are at least better than nothing. You better pray for the game to include a pause function!
If you don't know how to type in Japanese text, use some software specializing in OCR Text Recognition. I'll give some example:
1) Use Adobe Acrobat Pro.
2) Convert your photo into a PDF format.
3) Draw a blue box around the Japanese text.
4) Go to Document -> OCR Text Recognition -> Recognize Text Using OCR...
5) Copy the text and paste into Google Translation.
It's a good idea to take some Japanese class but you only have less than two months left until the release date! To get the most out of the language in less than two months is theoretically possible. To make that happen, you would require a very high level of motivation. A level of motivation from middle to none won't just cut it.

How long does it usually take for it to get to the east coast after they ship it (presuming that is on the date of release) with economy choice? It says 5-10 days, but typically how long from experience? I am wondering if I should change shipping methods and just pay for the express so I can get a tracking number as well.
