Sony has told Engadget that it is currently investigating the possibility of existing PS3 games being playable in 3D after a software update next year.
Currently “conducting a technological investigation” into the possibility, Sony maintains that there are “no plans for the market launch of this [3D backwards compatibility] at this time.”
According to reports, PS3 is going 3D in 2010, but for titles currently available, Sony is keeping quiet.
3D games on the horizon that are slated for PS3 include Avatar: The Game and some Sony racing titles.

Even if I'm a major RPG fan, I wouldn't like to play one in 3D. FF in 3D would be... weird.
But, hell, Silent Hill and Resident Evil would be fucking brilliant on 3D.

I have astigmatism and 3D tends to give me migraines, so i wouldn't be up for that.

Would I invest in contacts just for 3D games?
No... No, probably not.

As long as I don't have to pay a rediculous price for the glasses, as these companies tend to overprice these products as if they're the first people to ever create them, then sure but as long as it doesnt become something mandatory. Seriously, I'm not paying a premium price for blue and red glasses because they have the Sony fucking name on them.

You can do the glasses by yourself :P You just need to buy red and blue plastic and fix it on some random glasses :P (just joking)

This. I'll be damned if I have to drop a large price for these glasses.

I sure don't hope we're stuck with the red/cyan-shitz, for me it's just a red filled with blue dots mess overlayed on the actual movie. Polarized on the other hand...at a trip to London almost a month ago, I saw a documentary of the ISS in 3D at the Science Museum. I just so wanted to grab that space-glove floating towards me in zero gravity...
Although we do have the LCD shutter glasses technology, where the glasses alternates between turning opaque and transparent corresponting to the screen showing the "left" and "right" images. We could possibly end up with something like this. Nvidia has demonstrated it with PC monitors, although they claim the moni's need their own "3D ready" brand.
