The most beautiful image of deep space, the Hubble ultra deep field. Every single point of light is not a individual star, but a entire galaxy!
Not that wonderful?

Yes, Hubble has been awesome. Glad they got it working properly after that initial mishap.
Seems that the old hubble will retire in fall of 2012, and the new James Webb will replace it in middle of 2013.

Not as catchy a name, they should've picked a different astronomer to name it after.
Galileo would have been nice.
Johanes Kepler is a nice name too.

its just funny how many people thinks we are the only living creatures in this universe. and that is a very nice picture, seen it before, but always it stuns me.

Another wonderful picture.
The space traveler global Survayor in his way to mars photographed the earth at a distance giant.
At this point, we, the entire human race looks nothing in eternity of deep space. bellow the picture we also see jupiter too.

A sci-fi final fantasy is what i'd like for FF15 (something similar to Star Ocean maybe)^_^
Anyways, nice pictures. Space is really beautiful and grand

Just find yourself a little out on the country a clear winter night, point your camera upwards and give it some 30 secs shutter time, and you'll already see more stars than you could with your naked eye. Snap on a teleconverter, 2x or something big with a 300mm lens, you can run your own little deep field in a one wtfillionth scale. I tried it myself a couple of months ago, got stars against an apparent day-time sky....

romuro san genki desuka? ^^
'll give an example of how our Milky Way is immense: Suppose the sun is the end of a sentence, or the dot of an i, in such proportions, our galaxy would be the size of the entire United States of America.
scary, huh?
And this is only our galaxy, one in billion and billions in deep space.
In that picture of hubble more than 3.000 galaxys appear in image.
speechless...

Anyone who thinks we are alone, as the only sentient lifeforms capable of making technology on the only planet that can support life in the ENTIRE universe is either an idiot or simply ignorant.
Of course there are other lifeforms out there that are capable of technology, the universe is simply TOO vast for there not to be.
if you look's 700km above the atmosphere, no one can see that there is life on earth ... We are only "parasites" in a universe that is expanding every second...

He means he wants to show off his geographical literacy. Good for him. Thats more of an uncommon talent than one would think.
I don't know how anybody can contemplate the boundlessness of the universe and conclude that religion can be a worthwhile practice. Any one of those pictures illustrate that god is much more than mythological definitions of a supreme being.
