It's great to see that XIII will be playable, I can already see the footage overflowing youtube :D
I'm sure we'll get some Versus info, e.g. interviews and that kind of stuff, though it's just sad not to see anything new

I'd be a bit cautious about the YouTube part. Even when it is a public event, they'll take down some videos for the sake of SQEX..
As for Versus XIII, Nomura said we shouldn't expect it to appear this year.

Yeah, like how they took down all of those unofficialydemo vids that was uploaded on to youtube and left the ones that were played backwards. Rofl, it was funny.

My hype for this game is so underwhelming right now that i wont be caring for something more than some serious gameplay footage and some city exploration, they havent showed a single town or npc's in action in ANY trailer and i think that its about time they start doing so.

SE is being very smart with the hype of XIII ... They don't show us much, just enough to get us drooling and wishing for more ...
But since they're aiming winter to jp release, they must show something more than new tidbits about the battle sys, they have to show something solid about the other aspects of the game that were not showed before, like 1nOnly pointed ... Some city exploration, NPCs and leveling sys ...

^^ I never really drooled over xiii. I just want it out and in the shops. Or prefferably being sold second hand on Amazon, my best friend. But I remember the first time I saw a trailer for Versus. I seem to remember that I was sat in a pool of my own drool. Hence this:
...and we won't see FFVXIII.....fuck
That was also my reaction. >reads article< ..."the fuck?!" >smashes something<

lets see. they will give the japanese release date next week. so they probably show one of the last japanese voiced trailer. so it will probably be very epic. the only thing they now wants is a massive audience to buy the game. So my guess is, that they will show the most epic trailer so far...

Nothing, I don't think they were even working on it. But maybe once XIII, Agito, and Versus are out maybe they'll be like "Hey errybodeh! We got's anoder one fo yall."

YouTube got some coldass people xD. Square Enix shouldn;t have a problem with letting the video be public because they need all the Western audiences they can get.

if they say FFXIII will be playable, do they mean just the old demo from AC complett or an new demo, somebody has an idea?
hume57
Sep 02 2009, 08:50 AM
hope they mean the new build. it would be pointless to present an old demo build... everybody have an idea of what the final build would look like and bringing back the old build will be like ehh...

It should be a new build. No point in showing a very old build when the game is about to be released. This is their chance to actually show what FF XIII is about hands-on.

Some city exploration, NPCs and leveling sys ...I was drooling when i saw the first trailer of FFXIII back in 06, i was wishing for more as I was seing the CGI trailers and then stopped caring that much for it when the gameplay trailers was released...
And when it comes on hyping the game i can say that they mannage good for the FF fans but i dont know if the rest care that much..
It feels like i know very much about the storyline (almost too much) and practicly nothing of how the game plays out
i look at other games (like MW2 or AC2) and how they are hyped up: they show a teaser only like four months before release and then gradually reveals new info and gameplay trailers to keep the hype alive..
But FFXIII was anounced ages ago and the information that rolled in was so little that they could just have skipped anouncing it.. and on top of that, SE anounced another game called Versus XIII making people comparing them and therefore some would think that FFXIII is not that good because Versus XIII seems better.
I'm not saying that SE is the only company to do this but IMO i dont see the benefits of doing so, FF might be a strong serie that can mannage through any bad publishment but for other none FF or even RPG fans it would be better with a short but strong publishing campaign. Like they did with TLR, it feels like that game was more all over the place than FFXIII is right now.

The game has underwent a drastic measurement of decisions during development. Originally, the game was slated for a PS2 release.
It's targeted platform then went to the PS3 which would mark it as the first next gen FF. Once more, the game's target platform was appeneded to the 360. I'd consider that to be quite a legacy and a difficult one to manage in terms of marketing.
In the end, they might become closer to the western audience and attract better sales.

That's a problem with a game that have a very long development time ... The hype is something that's either good and bad.
With a long cycle, the sys and the audience can change ... and the game could not be as appropriate as it could with a shorter cycle. Something precious could get lost in the middle of the process...
Today, gaming audience is very different from 2006 when ffxiii was announced ... But since this games have a great fan base, we will probably swallow it without any great complains ...

Definately, I mean I am still supporting it and value its release. The anticipiation is a bit harsh, but that is where something crucial comes into play. Will our long patience pay off or will it be a disappointment (the game)?

I wonder if theyre gonna show serah and sazh's son at tgs? That'ed be cool. Also how much info do they usually release about a Final Fantasy game before its release? Ive never actualy followed the release of one before. Are they going to reveal all the char's or just some?

nice theory but FFXII was in development for five years on a single console and it was not the first for that gen of consoles.
