Why is Batman so popular? Even The Dark Knight was well received by the public. And comic books are traditionally for the nerdy like Comic Book Guy, or for those with infantile intellects, such as 4th graders. Few adults I know read comic books. The mass public probably has never read a batman comic book, yet they like the movie and this game.

And what's so cool about Batman? He has no superpowers, he's just a dude in armor with a utility belt.

^If you watched The Dark Knight, you would know why it was popular. If you played Arkham Asylum, you would know why it's popular. It was a brilliant movie and it is a brilliant game.

And I think part of what makes him one of the most popular superheroes is that he doesn't have any superpowers...

Dark Knight was indeed a good movie but I still couldn't give a crap about the game, super hero things are just about watchable but I can't play the games, although I'll admit Batman can be taken a little more seriously then most.

The fact that he has no superpowers is one of the things people like about Batman. Just because something is based from a comic, doesn't mean you have to read them to like the movies or in this case game. I'd never read watchmen before but I loved the movie.

The Dark Knight did well because it was a good film, not because it was based off of a comic.

Wow you're pretty old fashioned. Comics are much more wide-spread than they used to be with the dawn of the comic-book movie era. Okay, so maybe people don't read them, but it's not seen as particularly nerdy to like them anymore. In fact I would say that most people who read comics are adult males, the same as it is with games, where 75% of the gaming population are 35 year old males. Also, people aren't just going to buy this game because they read Batman comics; they may want it because they like the movies, or the old animated series.

And as Nagase said, people think Batman is cool because he has no superpowers. This is just a human being who is able to fight crime just as well as heroes with superpowers can. Which in a way makes him even stronger, because he's just a man who doesn't rely on some sort of special powers, and only on his own human strength and intelligence and ingenuity. Also it makes him one of the most realistic heroes, because it's something that is in the realms of possibility in the real world. If you're gonna say that someone who doesn't have superpowers and just has armour isn't cool, then you may as well say that Iron Man isn't cool either, and we all know that isn't true.

Comic books aren't traditional to one 'type of person'.
Your obviously completely unaware on who the market is, and thus pin pointing something that is stereotyped to the comic book itself.
They are just as able to have emotional and physical depth as any 800 page fictional book, this is another form of story telling, yet just because it is solely based around the art doesn't make it for the intellect of a damn 4th grader, it has an even greater ability to connect with the reader as you are almost watching what the fuck is happening, and not having it explained within 3 pages of text, and most comic books now are usually marketed towards early teens and upwards now due to the content, so obviously a 4th grader would be able to understand what the shit is going onnnnnnnnnnn durrrrrrrr.

Also, I have a vast comic book collection myself, but does that make me infantile?
And yes, your right, most of the public wont or will never read a comic book in their life, simply because it's not mass marketed like everything else.
I have to walk down god knows how many walkways ect... to get to my local comic book store. It's so tucked away it's unreal. But the consumers are obviously there, otherwise the comic book stores wouldn't be making a profit nor would the publisher, artists, editors ect...
Not many people are going to read them, if they can't even find a store to begin with, let alone not even realise the Batman franchise still exists within comic book form.
The only way they are able to get across the pond to the mass audience is, IRONICALLY, create a FILM.
Something that is moving compared to a still image is obviously going to be more appealing to the general mass.

And the ironic thing is, Comic books are now suddenly back in the limelight.
DO HO HO, so now more people might actually go and read them and stop sitting around watching some fucking movie for a change.
btw stop trollin, shit is annoying.

The demo gives you some great features and you'll end up having failed to advance the level several times. The graphics still look great and the combat looks like it is vast in the real game..

Batman is a beast. He has no super-powers and can beat the crap out of the best (DC heroes and villians alike). As for the Arkham Asylum...idk...I mean I played the demo and it has to much of a Assassin's Creed feel to it. I'm just sayin, he's the Dark Knight, villians fear him. He's supposed to be walkin around kickin butt and takin names, not sneaky around like a punk turning to take ppl out 1 at a time. idk maybe I'll give it another shot...maybe

@DarkSephi - The game actually has more fighting in it, they just edited the demo so it would showcase all... well most of the types of gameplay. And Batman is not a guy who just goes around kicking but and taking names... He does.. but he strikes from the shadows... This game is nothing like AC, it has much more diversity in gameplay and also in the real game you can upgrade your equipment and gain more equipment.

OK cool. Well I'm really glad to hear that because Assassin's Creed drove me crazy. My faith n the game (or at least the full version) has been restored. Guess its all about the real deal. Thnx guys
