New Aion news for anybody interested in the game. Open beta starts on the 6th of September, lasting 1 week until the 13th. Previous beta characters have been wiped and the level 30 cap remains in place, but this time we'll be able to check out version 1.5 (apparently quite shiny.)
Pre-select for reserving character names is available from the 18th of September, just prior to the Headstart on the 20th.
Still waiting on precise details but it seems as if the beta will indeed be open to anybody who can be bothered to make an NCsoft account, so anybody who hasn't tried it out, this is a good chance to check out the release version of the game.

I'm glad my character got wiped. I played the third beta for ages but stopped because it seemed futile to get so far and lose it all. I assume the same will happen with the open beta? Reserving your name for release would be pointless if they weren't wiped too.

Correct, open beta is only a wide scale test of the new 1.5 patch and a way to get extra subs come release. A week's worth of play and then it all gets deleted again xD. I'm just going to use the time to check out other classes or the other faction.

Same :P. I'll try out the other classes but I think I'm definitely going to stick with Spirit Master.

Is the level cap going to be 30 for the final game, or just for all the betas?

Are the characters definitely gonna get deleted after the open beta? Bit weird considering it's called "headstart".
Nvm, II'm a dick and read it wrong. Headstart just lets you play it 2 days early :aldo: And I preordered at Game and never got shit. ;;

If you got it from NCSoft online, you get a 5 day headstart :aldo:.

I would but I've got some monnies on my game card. Were they supposed to give me a number or something? D:

GAME gave me a number. A wrong number, but it was fixed eventually.
Then again, GAME also haven't updated the address on my order so I'll have to get on them about that.
I might skip the open beta. And I won't have time to care about the headstart. And even then, I'm on NA servers and away from all of you. Saddens me deeply. D:

Saw an ad for this the other day. It looks interesting, but I can hardly take the patience with these online games now. The last thing was WoW and Runescape. x.x

The new 1.5 client and Closed beta client -> Open beta client patch have been released, it's a seriously hefty patch size so anybody interested should get started.
Link to patch/client (http://na.aiononline.com/en/news/open-beta-client-now-available-for-download.html)
The patch itself is 3gb and will only work if you're on the latest version of the closed beta client, so if not, new client for you :).
To clear up the headstart stuffs:
NA get a 2 day headstart for preordering (regular release date 22nd Sep)
EU get a 5 day headstart for preorderng (regular release date 25th Sep)
So this way everybody starts on the 20th Sep at 8PM GMT (lousy timing for Australia, something like 5am? T_T)
Level cap is only 30 in beta, on release version of 1.5 the max level is 50.
The open beta is really only there to test the newest version in English and it's a great way to test the game out yourself if you're thinking about it but don't want to spend anything on it yet. It's an incredibly polished game, seeing as it's been out for 9 months in Korea already and they're already working on an expansion, although we won't see that in English for many many months yet.
Same :P. I'll try out the other classes but I think I'm definitely going to stick with Spirit Master. Yeah same here, Spirit Master rocks :D

First yes I know double post, but it was either this or create a whole new thread, figured this was less hassle:
5000 keys going for Aion Open beta at Eurogamer if you want to participate in the EU Aion Open beta from the 6th Sep to 13th.
Eurogamer.net giveaway (http://gamers.eurogamer.net/giveaways.php?id=86949)
Couldn't be easier, just make an account and click for a key, they're going fast if you want one though. I don't expect them to be here for many more hours, 500 have gone in 30 mins so far.

You can double post if you have new info and it's been a while.
For the open beta I'm gonna have to use my old PC as I can't use Neal's at the moment. I'm gonna try overclocking it to actually get a decent frame rate. This won't end well.
