I was in a local Gamestop and I was asking the clerk about a PSP because I have been toying with the idea of getting one for the last few months now. Anyways, he told me that Sony is wanting to stop making UMD games and will soon release all PSP games via download. Now i don't know if this subject has been touched on before, but this is the first I'm hearing of it. So I was wondering if anybody knows about this. I know the Go isn't UMD enabled, but what about future Sony handhelds?

I know they are doing away with UMD movies, but getting rid of UMD games sounds a little far fetched. I'm hoping this is all Bullshit, but one can never be sure. If this subject is already common knowledge, i ask that you simply call me a retarded fuck-up and then leave me in my shame.

the clerk is a moron, it is all bullshit. sony said it themselves (don't remember where i've seen it, maybe someone else can provide a link) that the psp go is simply aimed at a different group of people. they will continue supporting the normal psps. rest assured, umds will not disappear.

Thanks, I'm going to go get one today. Any ideas on what game i should get with it? And also, does the PSP play MP4 files like the PS3 does?

I would go for Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions, or Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII.

Of course, if you could wait a bit, there's also the critically praised Dissidia Final Fantasy coming out on August 25.

That is, I assumed you are a Final Fantasy fan, seeing how you're here...

There are other pretty good games, I heard, but I'm not into most of them so I'll let the others point you in the proper directions.

And to answer your question, the PSP can indeed read MP4 files among others. ;)

Dissidia is awesome. Get the free demo on PSN when you get your PSP. And there's like LOT more to the game than what is shown in the demo.

As for other games check this topic: http://finalfantasy-xiii.net/forums/showthread.php?t=7509

FF Dissidia is a 3D fighting game, i play the japanese version very fun! You can play as cloud, Leon , Tidus. And in the versus mode you can play as Sephiroth and slowly unlock other villian. You can also unlock outfit that the character wear. Its like a fighting game with storyline and stuffs to unlock as you gain points

Yea Sony has said in interviews that although downloadable games are the future people still have a need for tangible media. I could maybe seeing Psp2 being download only with no dics drive like the Psp go though. But thats probably more down the line than happening right away.

I think sony confirmed that they'll still make UMDs at E3 when they announced the GO? I might be wrong but, you know:P You can always watch their conference to see if i'm right or not :)

Yeah, everything is being released for download and UMD. They're introducing the PSP Go! but it isn't a replacement for the 4000, or whatever model they're on now.

3000, which is a piece of crap imo, screen problems.

Crisis Core
youre gonna have trouble obtaining decent materia.. heres a recipe for a good one.
Electrocute = Tri-Fire(Master) + Libra
Tri-Fire = Tri-Thundaga(Master) + Libra
you'll kno what ^ that means when u get far enough into the game

i still think the 1000 model is better. big, but better. screen is fine, and battery life is fairly good. and I LOVE the UMD....
