Ok, I'm looking for a great Netbook (you know the small laptops). Which brands do you guys recommend that I should get? I see HP all the while, and I do have an HP desktop already. It runs pretty good, but now I'm looking for a Netbook for on-the-go when i'm at school.
Any recommendations of brands and models?

The same reason people buy the Wii. They're cheap.

Dell is okay, i guess. I own a Dell Mini 10v Netbook, and i'm happy with it when it comes to quality. I think it's about 10 inches but i think there's a smaller one. But seriously, a laptop is better. I'm having a hard time editing photos, surfing the net and stuff because of the small resolution, so i just use my desktop pc out of desperation. D:

Why spend more money than you have to? A netbook is more than enough for something like schoolwork and web browsing.
Netbooks seem infinitely more useful to me than something like a gaming laptop.

It all really depends on what kind of programs you choose to work with. If it is Photo & video editing, then a laptop would serve you far more better than a Netbook, thats for sure.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I looked at the prices at Staples, the minimum for a laptop was like $600. The mininmum price for a netbook was around $249. I want somethin that is compact and ready for on the go that is CHEAP.
I'm wanting to do some Photo Editing and 3D Modeling on it for my classes. Which one is bes because so far I've only seen Netbooks with about 3Gig Ram with the Intel Atom?
It wouldn't be like hella hard on with it though, requiring tons of memory. I just need it for the Adobe Master Collection and 3D Studio Max. Ofcourse, with the everyday tools for computing as well.

You kidding me? You need more than just memory for all of that. You would need a dual core processor at least, and one dedicated graphics card.
A Netbook wont cut it for those programs.
Check out the link EcZ284 provided. Pretty good deal if you ask me, except for that graphics card =/

You don't need a dual core processor because my current computer is very old and I can still run 3D Studio Max and Adobe Master Collection. I have loads of programs that I use with no problem.
Aside from that, I have seen my classmates run 3D Studio Max on their netbooks. I don't expect to render something that requires hours in Mental Ray. I've seen Netbooks on Staples that have around 160GB HDD. On top of that, the current PC I'm using barely has 1G Ram and a "psssh" graphics card.
Now if I want to expect the BEST out of these programs, I'm going to *need* a better laptop / netbook.

When I click those links, I only get this:
Please enter the Zip Code where products will be delivered.
Still it will take ages, depending on what you are rendering and how big it is.
I have an ATI Radeon HD @ 256mb ram, I think it is AGP but dedicated, works well on medium graphics setting on Doom 3 >.> but besides that, it takes time to render large Images for me, especially if I do some fancy styling etc.
I have 2gb of ram, doesn't make Photoshoping much easier, but my PC does load it very fast up though.

I think I'll just stick to getting a laptopthat is around the same price. I don't need to go all out because afterall, I do have a desktop :o.

I have a Samsung NC10 which runs Photoshop CS3 perfectly fine even with a shit load of actions saved on there. It has good Bluetooth and wireless connection as well :cathryn: I'm not sure how much they're going for brand new as I got mine second hand for £70. I haven't had any problems with it so far and it's actually been more reliable than my computer.
