So, the reason to start discussing about this game, that seems lost somewhere at the 8th floor of the Square Enix building, is the fact that I LOVE reading old articles about FFXIII, Versus and Agito. I recently read an very old interview with Titsuya Nomura about the battle system for versus, and I think I found a very nice detail:
They talk about the battle system and see a image of gauge similar to the one in FFXIII.

Also there were some gameplay screens revealed last year on the Cloud magazine Developer Message (http://finalfantasy-xiii.net/media/scans/cloudmessage/09.jpg).
A lot of people thought this was just for testing purposes, but I think -except the 3x duplicated Noctis- this would be the real interface! (Or maybe the real system which would get a nicer interface in the future)

A: This might be that "gauge" the magazine was talking about. It might have the same function as XIII.
B: Command window where you input commands
C: Area map (You can see it's the location of the "party scene".
I think the battle system goes like this:
You get a list of commands <B>. Next you pin 2 commands to the X and ["square"] button. The commands appear in the 2 bars <A>. Next you can perform FFAC combos with those 2 attacks and it will be like you're playing a fighting game. While you're battling you can change the commands freely with the d-pad.
They've said already that the battle system would be action oriented like Kingdom Hearts so they might just have a battle system like a fighting game with some RPG elements.
So what do you think? I hope we get to see a new trailer soon with some battle footage! I'm really excited for the game after reading all the past interviews.
I would advise everyone here to read old articles about these games, because they can be very interesting! For example about FF versus and Agito in 2007:
The Soldiers attacking the protagonist of Versus were after the crystal inside the pillar behind his thrown. It is supposed to have some sort of power which is beneficial to the military.
Agito will work both online and offline. Other players can join your party in online mode like an MMORPG.
Huh? Agito online? Clear that up for me???? Was it confirmed??????
And I also read that people of Cocoon are scared that their Cocoon will fall out of the sky someday
So, what do you want to see in Versus? How do you think the battle system will look? Explain it, draw it!
And can somebody confirm the Agito MMO thing? Was the mmo function cancelled or did we just all forgot it?
Also, These are the 4 basic Wikipedia rules to brainstorm successfully:
There are four basic rules in brainstorming. These are intended to reduce social inhibitions among groups members, stimulate idea generation, and increase overall creativity of the group.
Focus on quantity: This rule is a means of enhancing divergent production, aiming to facilitate problem solving through the maxim, quantity breeds quality. The assumption is that the greater the number of ideas generated, the greater the chance of producing a radical and effective solution.
Withhold criticism: In brainstorming, criticism (http://finalfantasy-xiii.net/wiki/Criticism) of ideas generated should be put 'on hold'. Instead, participants should focus on extending or adding to ideas, reserving criticism for a later 'critical stage' of the process. By suspending judgment, participants will feel free to generate unusual ideas.
Welcome unusual ideas: To get a good and long list of ideas, unusual ideas are welcomed. They can be generated by looking from new perspectives and suspending assumptions. These new ways of thinking may provide better solutions.
Combine and improve ideas: Good ideas may be combined to form a single better good idea, as suggested by the slogan "1+1=3". It is believed to stimulate the building of ideas by a process of association (http://finalfantasy-xiii.net/wiki/Association_(psychology)).
If there's already a thread on this one, sorry :( just close or merge it^_^
