(I've searched, and I didn't find any thread about this yet, so I decided to post it. I apologize if it has already been posted!)
The official Team ICO Games Magazine "The Last Guardian" portal: http://www.the-last-guardian.com/
It doesn't give many information thought.. And there's "sound on/off" but I can't seem to hear any music at all. I have been looking forward to this game!! ^_^
I really enjoyed Ico, and in the future I'm hoping I can find shadow of colossus so I can play it as well.
EDIT: Since i've named the thread after it...
TGS gave us some goodies, just wish there was some sort of hint for the realease date geez..
Interview with Fumito Ueda, and new TGS trailer by the end of the video:

I loved Shadow of the Colossus, but never got a chance to play ICO. However, this game looks fairly interesting. I'll likely buy it when it's out... The griffin, cat-chicken thing looks rather... adorable.

I am good friends with Team ICO Magazines founder and I'm an author on the related blog, and I promise you that website is not in anyway official. We are massive fans, but nothing too official.
And of course I will be buying this. Please of you haven't played ICO or Shadow of the Colossus, keep your eye out for it.
If you like JRPGs or RPG's in general, you probably have a more patient and appreciative palette. You don't necessarily need patience, but there's more to these games than the action, and the things that appear disfunctional designs are usually trying to communicate something.
Although I am a little disappointed by The Last Guardian seemignly so ridiculous, Falkor etc. Shadow and ICO seem MUCH more graceful and non-conventional.

Seeing Team ICO's reputation, you should give it a try :)

that person is quite correct :)

I wouldn't say adorable, it's quite intriguing.. who knows if it becomes adorable in the game..

Indeed you should.

They sure look ^^
You should play the others, I guess there is a connection between all of them, Shadow of colossus beeing a prequel to ICO.
Yeah, it's likely a definite get for me.
For me too! 2010 seems like a good year for games ^_^

Oh so it isn't official.. My bad, althought I didn't really say it was officially by team ico, I did say it was "The official Team ICO Games Magazine "The Last Guardian" portal:", so I don't think I have to make emends there :)
I was surprised by the creature, seems kinda awkward (that must have been the intention anyways, it's not your typical cuddly pretty creature), but I still have faith that it will be a great game, it's team ico we're talking about here!! xP
ICO and SotC are some of the best games I ever played, I'm expecting the same in this also.
My thoughts exactly.

I never played Ico, but I hear it's their masterpiece. Shadow was pretty good, but there isn't a heck of a lot to it. Whats there is brilliant though...

There's actually tons to do. Hunt lizards and find fruit. Both of which are beneficial to you.
And to me preceeded Crackdown's orbs in MANY ways. Specifically becuase it was all in aid to reach the top of the tower.
Anyway!
Yeah, that's the differentiation I made. It's Team ICO Gamers Magazine, which is his little fansite. I don't know if Red sees it as a part of the community (on Eurogamers) but he frequently links there from the community blog.
And just by the Way It's Team ICO Gamers, no Games, so yeah, nothign at all official. Althoguh I'd be if I denied him saying there had been official visitors and comments about it by them. Which we were both excited about. I digress... Epically.
I am very excited for it, I just hope that it doesn't try to capture that Disneyish mainstream audience too much, becuase as the medium is becoming mroe contemporary, there needs to be things that are completely new for the medium. Not gaming's answer to 'insert creative luminary'.

You don't need to do anything like that to get through the game.
Part of the superb design in my opinion is that it CAN appeal to players such as yourself who would prefer faster action. And in a way it wants to communicate somethign by slowing the action you receive as much as possible.
At the same time, it caters incredibly well for the players that explore. It rewards them, when they find fruits, or that you can press circle on or near your horse to pet it. Or you can find tortoises in certain corners of the world. And it rewards them with amazing views too.
There is a lot of hyperbole surrounding the game, and some people like to gush for no good reason (in my opinion) but there is a reason why these games are held in such high regard. And I won't go into person reasons why I love it.

It says "Games" in there :'(
If it captures disneyish audience, that would so suck, lattely disney has been quite dissapointing... I just die everytime my 12 year old sister is watching crappy montana and such things :X
Team ICO creates games that are not cliche whatsoever, they're enjoyable and have something special , I have hope that they shall keep it that way ^_^

Shocking. I will see if that was intentional, next time I speak to him. He does like doing thigns that get attention.
Maybe you heard of 'The Queen' rumour, or the Nordic Myths rumour, or even 'The Giants Are Coming' Thye were all things he did to raise awareness surrounding the games.

I heard "The Queen" rumour (http://www.tigmagazine.com/mini-sites/flashteaser/teaser.html)

The others ones not really.

I agree completely.
Ironically I worry that I acted as a catalyst for it going up as soon as it went up, as I was also speakign to this guy who works at Playstation Lifestyle, called Sev. But whatever, this all sounds very far fetched actually.
A guy on our forum frequents N4G, and he saw the owner of the site teasing something. And that trailer had been floating around for a LONG while, we knew plenty of people who ada seen it, (apparently Red had been offered the movie) so I acted on it by PMing him. And then about 2 hours later it went up.
I think he was worried because I mentioned the site, I think he thought we had the video also. We didn't, ofcourse.
ANYWAY, it is all rather odd now I write it. But it was cool while the conspiracy lasted. And the rumour of the concept 'me and my colossus' was leaked on NeoGAF YEARS ago.
The adventure genre is dying off quite a bit, so yeah I'm definitely looking forward to this one.

Jul 16 2009, 12:40 AM
I feel the adventure genre is gettign a bit of a rejuvination recently, what with XBLA gettign Sam & Max and Monkey Island games. And Trine is just round the corner.
And a neo-adventure game, Heavy Rain, will be early next year. You might even call Alan Wake an adventure game depending on how much gunplay there is (or atleast that's how I judge it).
To be honest, I don't know if I'd call ICO and adventure game. I'd call it a puzzle platformer.
Anyway, I am not saying you're wrong in saying it's an adventure game, I am clearly havign a hard time defining an adventure game xD

I think you'll be very happy.
It's going to be a story-driven puzzle adventure game..... What a mouthful.

Jul 16 2009, 08:12 PM
I never played shadow of colossus, but I guess that ICO was more puzzle like..
I think this one looks like a mix of both ICO and SoC.
The Last Guardian, I wonder.. the creature and the boy, kinda protect each other mutually..

Sotc felt like your were going on a journey, finding each collosus was even fun.
It was very Final Fantasy like aswell except there was barely any talking.

And Heavens Cloud is right, there is VERY little speech. Fumito Ueda's games are very unique, regardless of the medium - his style is very unique.

Jul 17 2009, 09:22 AM
The little speech, and the lack of comunication between puzzles in ICO, it kinda forces you to think, what should I do, where should I go to. Yorda gave us some hints sometimes thought :P
(I can't remember the first time I played ICO, but I was like what...9 years old xD I was scared of the black shadows back then.. O_o)

I haven't played Ico, but I hope this is better than Shadow of the Colossus. That game was good, but the concept wore thin after around 10 or 11 colossi (granted, the last one was awesome). I also didn't like that the story was essentially told through two long cutscenes. It made sense in that game, but I still prefer for a story to be told throughout a game, keeps me interested, even if the story is pretty lame.

Jul 17 2009, 07:21 PM
I love a game's story being told through gameplay. I will be disappointed (I expect) when there are more cutscenes in TLG.

Team ICO doesn't exactly have a formula for the games true but it's their style, I mean the horse falling off the cliff, the darkness being released and you turning into a baby in SofC, sure they didn't actually kill off the horse but it was a sadish ending even though things didn't turn out that bad, at any rate either the creature is going to die or the kid is that much is pr practically guaranteed but we don't know how, Team ICO has a way of surprising us, it might end up being old age that finishes it off, but it will be sad

Yeah I was thinking this animal will die also. Team Ico does have a way of doing such, but as Reapers said, but not by actually killing them off. But this one might actually be different.

I think everyone's first guess with the kid and his cat/griffin/whatever are going to die. I mean, given Team Ico's sad endings and the "a boy and his dog/cat/uncle/whatever" sort of combination, it's almost expected.
However, I hope they go about it in an interesting way, at the least.

Both SotC and Ico are beautiful, beautiful games and I'm really excited for this one.
Team Ico nail capturing atmosphere in their games, the loneliness and the isolation. The music for SotC was just wow.
