Self-explainatory.

Which character was the most useless for you?

To me, it was Amaranth. He had a lame Trance, few skills, and just plainly sucked. Though I did like his story, but whatever.

Yuna, actually she is only useful when you wait to use her sphere grid until you have those lv. 1,2 or 3 locks, then she can learn some more powerful moves

It wasn't mentioned in the thread title or the OP, but the forum section says FFIX:blink: I guess I was wrong... As for IX, that's a long time ago, I think all the characters because they weren't really stilish, cool and mature in battle. (Except that I got stuck on disc 2, I don't remember that much of it...>_<)

I didn't like quina in the beginning of the game. Then towards the end of the game, when I wanted to use him/her, she was too weak to last 1 hit. So I ended up giving on him/her.

Freya, there a lot of better fighter chars.

FFIX.

Mine was Eiko. Just because I was too lazy to train her when I got her because all the other character had 10 more levels.

Huh? Kimahri? He had the most freedom in "his" sphere grid, he was very powerful in my party.

isn't there a rule about you making a thread in a section and making that clear to everyone before you post it?

Guess we play very differently. Oh I didn't see it was only about ff9. In that case it's Freya.

Well, how about looking what section it is in, genious?

But it's okay I guess :)

Anyway, Freya wasnt completely useless, though somehow Quina (in my file)
did a better job.

Oh and I detest Freya's 7 dragons or whatever it is attack.

i would have to go with Freya, Quina, and Amarant
they all had some sucky skills and they're trances were nothing that special -_-

Freya's dragon crest was one of he best moves in the game. I fought those big green dragons to gain some levels and it affects her dragon crest ability so every time I used it it did 9999, so yeah she was the strongest in my party.

As for Eiko, I liked her spell list more than Dagger, she had Holy and Full-Life. So I leveled Eiko instead of Dagger because I didn't summon much.

Quina for me. I actually liked Quina the character, but she always had shit attacks even with a good weapon and at the same level as everyone else.

I barely ever used Amarant until I found out he had autolife, now I can't beat Necron without him.

Quina's gender is left to nebulous speculation, so you actually refer to it as s/he. Which is what they actually do in the in-game text.

Ironically, I never used Garnet (Dagger) after a point because in Disc III she becomes all depressed and is FUBAR in battle. Like she's permanently silenced and her magics miss frequently or something. Due to the need to have a COMPETENT White Mage healer in battle, I just use Eiko soon after I get her, and leave Garnet in the reserve. My endgame has traditionally consisted of Zidane, Amarant, Steiner, and Eiko. Three melee powerhouses and one healer. I don't know why, but I never got into Freya. Quina was more of a niche thing, and Vivi, though powerful and useful, simply didn't have enough HP to survive the opening blast of some of the final bosses.

Sad thing is, Freya's still a better warrior than Kimahri

For shame

Kimahri's more of a warrior-mage class if you take him around the loop of the Sphere Grid where he starts and is stuck in initially. Kimahri is also the only one besides Auron who has Piercing weapons in the beginning of the game. Whereas IMHO, Freya was next to useless. Not too many weapons easily come by, her only good command being Jump.

I know, I don't care, looks like a she to me, and you said yourself it's up for speculation.

Quina is awesome. If you eat the right enemies he can be a brilliant attacker AND healer, the amount of times I've relied on his Frog Drop/Angel Snack/White Wind/Mighty Guard magics is silly.

Amarant sucks, both story-wise and gameplay-wise. I'd never seen the point of him.

For me it was amarant, i don't like him so i never use him. And he is a fighter character and i don't care for fighter types.

Garnet.

Let's be honest, her white magic skills are inferior to Eiko's and I thought eidolons did diddly squat.

Agreeing with some of the things people have said about Quina, s/he's actually a REALLY good party member, you just gotta know how to use him/her. I watched a walkthrough on Youtube once where they used Quina's magic to take out one of the higher level dragons on Disc 1. I haven't had a chance to try it out for myself, but I won't say that Quina is useless.

As far as things go, I would have to say Amarant... no reason to really power him up. I, from time to time, have huge problems with characters that join late in the game because I grind and level up the other people who joined my party earlier. I didn't have too much of a problem with Eiko though. Loved her to death, really, compared to Dagger/Garnet. I preferred her superior magic. |:
