You know who else died today, Farrah Fawcett. The cancer finally took it's toll.
Apparently Michael Jackson died from a heart attack earlier this afternoon.

This is a weird day for Hollywood.

More Links for those who doubt it.

So far no trustworthy sources say he's actually dead, won't surprise me if he is though, with all those drugs he's on, plus he has the money to take them whenever he wants.

I take that back. They just confirmed it.

I'm suprised by some of the ignorant comments. It is a complete disregard for human life. Ya....People do die...and yes...life will go on...but it just happened today. Why be a dick to the people who appreciated Michael? Give his fans, friends, and family a chance to be sad and mourn him.

Apparently, you've never SERIOUSLY lost someone in your life....unfortunately one day you will...and you will see why there's nothing to joke or tease about. I lost my best friend in a car accident 3 weeks ago. Life does go on.....but its damn hard. I know you don't know Michael personally....and you probably wouldn't have wanted to....So you don't want to see him on the TV day in and day out with reporters clamoring over his death.

That should at least make you respect him though....That some man could garner so much attention. Very few have been awarded such praise, such hate, and such discussion. Michael Jackson was indeed a legend...and will be missed (maybe not by you)....but I gurantee you by many.

Yea, he is dead. But like he said, its a respect thing. Even if you don't respect him, you should let others (I doubt many of his serious fans are on here however, lul).

I never did like much of his music, and the guy was a freak, but damn, he was talented.

I partake in religious activities, and I don't think I have a bullshit holier-than-thou attitude. But, you have to think, if you think your going to live forever and never be sad in a city of some sort in clouds while "sinners" burned for eternity would you not feel the same way?

I am one of the people who think religion is a 50/50. If you believe it, it gives you hope, etc, etc, and if you don't, you have to feel the blunt of the shitty holier-than-thou attitude, which, if (let me use Christianity) you should not have at all. On the other hand, even if you don't believe in any sort of religion, religious organizations dole out tons of money to help the needy and impoverished. I suppose it's for each person to decide wither or not the world would be better of with or without it. Although, I bet something would replace religion in the end.

I have no idea why I typed that.

I have no idea why you typed that either. I don't want this to turn into a religious debate... that being said, religions take in billions of dollars and pay no taxes. Charities exist without religious foundation. I did not say you had a holier-than-thou attitude and I don't always relate a holier-than-thou attitude to religion, if that makes sense.

Thriller, indeed.

This makes me sad:
1) Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett are dead, I wasn't a fan of either
2) The complete lack of respect for the life of another human being. Sure, plenty of people die each day, but Michael Jackson lived practically his whole life in the public eye. We also don't poke fun at those people we didn't know about who died.

No, if either of my parents live to see that day, they would probably be genuinely upset. But.. I'm not either of my parents and it's rather unlikely that any members of Michael Jackson's family are, y'know, on this forum, although it could be the form their grief has taken. It's just not a relevant topic.

Probably, his parents obviously didn't love him very much.

It's hard to respond to this seriously. Instead, I'm just going to say I applaud the level of maturity you're shown. Way to stay relevant. I wonder how many eventual homicides have resulted from this kind of dodgy argument. I'll humor you, though. Both of my parents love me in their own old fashioned, homophobic way. I don't really understand unconditional love myself. Also, I'm female, by the way.

Speaking of relevance, pure and virtuous ones, the seven deadly sins contain both anger and pride.

But it is mature to result to personal attacks? It's pretty sad that you come on here trying to get a rise out of people. If the dead are irrlevant and you obviously don't care about Jackson, then why even post in this thread? I Know! I come here and post my honest opinions. If people get upset over it, so be it. Some people have opinions that upset me as well. I enjoy the argument. People don't agree on everything. Nothing new there.

I wouldn't say the dead are irrelevant.. although in this case it's hard for me to say that as Michael Jackson stopped being relevant to me some time before puberty and all that fun stuff (irrelevant) and, in my humble opinion (I'll be extra humble here and say this is also irrelevant), he made no noteworthy contributions to the progress of mankind since before I was born (read: ever). I did like him at one point though, and nostalgiabomb'd at the news. Personally though, it stopped being about Michael Jackson around page 2.

Anyway, I'd say that the silly little rituals we have regarding death need to be done away with.
What a profoundly new-agey, irreverent, irrelevant statement, hey?

I understand if the fans thinks that its a shame, but if i were a fan of MJ then i would have gotten out of the fanclub a long time ago (like when he no longer made music and instead was doing inappropriate things). His music still lives on and thats enough for me, he was a genius and all when it came to music but as a person he was just broken. And stop thinking of his death as just something bad, that man didnt really seem alive for quite a while so he may as well rest in peace. and as we say in my country "it was luck in the unlucky" or "luck to the unlucky" (roughly translated)

and please dont comment on that i have no idea of how his life really was because neither of us here (i think) dont really happen to have been close friends with him..and if you now were, then please correct me if i'm wrong:cathryn: (<<first good use of that face i've had)

God knows how he managed to die in debt, considering just one of his albums could sell 80 million copies. Honestly though, he was one of the very few rich people I ever felt sorry for.

Which is why most theme parks ask people to come in and pay money. See Cartmanland episode of South Park for reference.

My dad shook me awake this morning, telling me mj was dead. Of course I didn't believe it at first, but as I walked into the living room to see the news blaring out full with headlines "Michael Jackson is dead", my jaw dropped. I've loved his songs, played his games on sega, and laugh and enjoy some of his music videos when I was younger(moonwalkfail:/).

RIP Michael Jackson.

She hasn't hit any nerve with me. It's obvious that she's just coming on the forum trying to act tough and get a rise out of people. Anyone can type anything over the keyboard....Keyboard warriors anyone?

Funny thing is that she comes on and throws out 3 "comical" comments on the first page of this thread alone! No one reacts when you poke the stick...so you just keep on poking. Then...she says the dead don't matter...then she says the dead are somewhat relevant? When someone asks her to have respect for the dead (if not that...at least for those who cared about the person), she results to personal, yet random attacks.

Then it flips back into the "cold human being" routine where she welcomes AIDS and piss on her grave. If their was any validity to anything Subba has said, she still wouldn't be hanging around this thread. She would be off talking about subjects of relevance to her....yet she hangs around this thread averaging 3 posts per page...going on about a subject that is "irrelevant but yet relevant"?

You got your rise out of people...Bye? See you in a "relevant" thread sometimes (hopefully void of befuddling oxymorons). RIP MJ. Thank you for all that you've done for the music industry. Thank you for the things you've done outside of the industry. I'll never forget riding in my dad's car listening to your music at night as a kid. My prayers are also with the family, friends, and fans alike.

He was however a big inspiration to many of my friends and I respect the man for it

Michael Joseph Jackson, rest in peace

^the overdose thing is not yet clear (according to this artical i read):
An autopsy on Michael Jackson (http://www.nypost.com/topics/topic.php?t=Michael_Jackson) revealed that the King of Pop's emaciated body was riddled with needle marks and scars, and his head was virtually bald, it was reported today.
Jackson's body had wasted away to a mere 112 pounds, and his stomach was completely empty except for partially dissolved pills, according to the London Sun.
His hips, thighs and shoulders were covered with needle wounds, believed to have come from shots of painkillers, and he was wearing a wig when he was found because his hair had been reduced to a "peach fuzz" on his scalp, the report said.
"He was skin and bone, his hair had fallen out, and he had been eating nothing but pills when he died," a source close to the singer's entourage told the paper.
"Injection marks all over his body and the disfigurement caused by years of plastic surgery show he'd been in terminal decline for some years."
There were four fresh injections around his heart, presumably from attempts to pump adrenaline into it to jumpstart it, the paper said.
Three of them had penetrated and damaged his heart wall, while a fourth struck his ribs, the paper reported.
He also sustained several broken ribs while authorities administered CPR during his final moments Thursday.
Jackson had one spot above his left ear that was scarred and completely bald - the apparent result of burns sustained when his hair caught fire while he was filming a Pepsi commercial in 1984.
He also had numerous other scars, apparently from plastic surgery.
In addition, he had mysterious bruises on his knees and shins and cuts on his back, possibly indicating a recent fall, the paper said.
Jackson has had two autopsies performed on him: one by the Los Angeles coroner and a private one requested by the family.
The details leaked came from the official autopsy. The Sun didn't say how it got the information.
Meanwhile, the cardiologist who was Jacko's private doctor and performed CPR on him did it the wrong way, a Jackson family confidant claimed yesterday.
Dr. Conrad Murray found Jacko on the floor in his rented Los Angeles mansion and put him in a bed, the source said.
Medical experts say that compressions for cardiopulmonary resuscitation must be performed on a hard surface.
"Michael was on the floor first, and they put him on the bed, and then started compressions on the bed," said the source, who had spoken to a Jackson relative. "What kind of doctor is that?"
In a transcript of the 911 call, the person seeking help says Jackson is "on the bed." The dispatcher says, "OK, let's get him down to the floor."
Edward Chernoff, a lawyer for Murray, yesterday said the doctor found Jackson in his bed with a faint pulse.
Chernoff told The Associated Press that Murray was at the pop icon's mansion Thursday afternoon when he discovered Jackson and immediately began administering CPR.
"He just happened to find him in his bed, and he wasn't breathing," the lawyer said. "Mr. Jackson was still warm and had a pulse."
Murray, who spoke to cops for three hours on Saturday, is a licensed MD and specializes in cardiology, although he is not board-certified.
Jackson hired Murray last month as he prepared for a grueling 50-date concert series in London that had been set to start in July.
Chernoff also said Murray never prescribed or gave Jackson the powerful painkillers Demerol or OxyContin. He denied reports suggesting Murray gave Jackson an injection of Demerol shortly before his death.
"Dr. Murray has never prescribed nor administered Demerol to Michael Jackson," Chernoff said. "Not ever. Not that day. Not OxyContin for that matter."

I'd say his death was awfully conveniant, this was gonna be his last tour and I'm sure he'd have wanted to go out with a bang. He probably wasn't in as good shape as he used to be, so the concerts wouldn't have been his best, and even if they were, people would still slag them off. Plus, hadn't he only wanted 10 dates, but ended up with 50 or something? Now instead of fading into obscurity in his old age, he's like Elvis.

From a business point of view, I'd say dying was the best course of action.

Nah... Not Micheal Jackson fan but... I don't like pop music, or his style of music. . My opinion will now probably anger a lot of people. Heck, I don't even like Elvis for that matter. His music sucks too.

Also so much money has been made from people buying his records since his death that his estate isn't in debt anymore. Dying could be a great career move if only people could figure out how to live through it :aldo:

back to trying not to sully the name even further,

i do wish his family best and i'll be listening to my favorite songs.

and if any other award shows decide to honor his name they better do him right b/c BET sure as hell didn't!!!
and that has nothing to do with the fact that he died 3 days b4 the show
some people made it about themselves behind the stage and the awards show felt innappropriate even if it wasn't in his name.

i know a lot don't watch BET so i'm doing u a favor by say don't do start now!!!!!!
