According to the story, Activision may stop supporting the PS3 in the future. IMO, they already kinda lag behind in terms of making the content for PS3 Vs. 360.
You would think that if they wanted to maximize profits on the PS3 they would just give the PS3 owners what they want which is equal treatment (I hate platform exclusive DLC). Or, just start making third-party RPG's. If they are halfway decent, they would sell pretty well I assume.
Your thoughts? Like the article says, I doubt they will ever drop Sony. Plus, Sony has been doing better and better.

Well fuck Activision.
Honestly, I think it's just him kicking up a stink in order to elicit a response from Sony. A publicity stunt and a cry to Sony for attention all rolled into one shameless, bitter whinge.
But if he truly wants to get the company to drop them completely, I'm sure several other publishers would love to leap on the properties they leave behind and make a pretty little penny from them.

Meh, only games I care about from them is COD.

Pretty much. Plus, they are the ones who are trying to sell "Band Hero" for 200 bucks. :wtf:

I haven't bought any games from them...yeah not even guitar hero...:wtf:
So fuck them, it's their loss. The PS3 will have a price drop eventually, people are so impatient.

If I was sony, I would tell them to shove it up their ass. We don't need an unrealistic shooter, and some other corny games anyways.

Sony is waiting for at least a break even in prices, supply and demand. So how they could drop the prices...Activision must have a mind and they have to know that Sony is Sony and only for Sony lovers and Sony thinkers ^______^!! I love you sony!....

If you really wanna get picky, COD is more realistic than KZ2. :wtf:

COD is more realistic than KZ2, but that's not to say either, are, in anyway realistic. If you want realism go for Arma 1 or 2.

Float running and turning at the speed of light are realistic? Yeah O.K.

If Sony were to loose support from the worlds largest third party publisher, it would be a disaster. Hopefully that doesn't happen

COD is more realistic when it comes to the actual setting of the game. Physics and graphics are much more realistic in KZ2.

Listen, in either game, it still takes half a clip to frag someone. If you can find me a person who can take half a clip from a MP5, and still run and gun, tell me.
Both are fictional, and the only thing KZ2 does is try and make the gun's weight apparent. COD is still more realistic than KZ2; and Arma is more realistic than both of them.

Well then maybe they should stop relying on sub par guitar simulators and crappy skateboarding games. Then everybody wouldn't bitch.
The only thing they've pushed out of their ass since Guitar Hero is Prototype, and now they are shoving Guitar Hero FIVE in our faces.
Urg. No wonder everybody is pissed at them to get something half decent out on the PS3 for a change.

They own a ton of studio's, like one of the most noted 'Neversoft'.

Not saying it's realistic, we're saying it's MORE realistic than KZ2. I don't even think KZ2 was is supposed to be realistic is it?

Exactly :aldo:
Because you say so right?
Except for the setting, what is more realistic in COD?
For one the fact that a standard assault rifle in COD doesn't have the recoil of a Glock 18 firing 7.62's. :cathryn: It's supposed to be in the future yet weapons have got shitter?
Second, the setting you talk about in this case is quite a big point where COD is more realistic.
The point is, Call Of Duty has tried to simulate parts of REAL LIFE warfare while still keeping it with an arcade style feel.
Killzone 2, is utterly fictional. A fictional setting, weapons and a poor outlook on the future of military transport (An open top levitating shopping trolley dropping men into battle.). Cute for thinking the future battlefield transport is a convertible.

And the handling of the weapons....and yet you still haven't said what you think is more realistic about KZ2, apart from the graphics which is generally obvious.
Hynad
Jun 19 2009, 07:52 PM
You mention the handling of the weapons... I don't see how they aren't realistic in KZ2. You basically compare the assault riffle of COD with the one in KZ2 and mention the recoil. You've got to be kidding there. You're overly exaggerating there. The recoil in KZ2 is pretty realistic, while in COD4, the recoil is quasi nonexistent... I wonder if you played the same game as I did actually O_o.
Other than that there's of course the physics. But well, since I don't agree with you, and probably won't no matter what you put on the table, I'll go Zezlar's route and say that I don't wish to argue this any longer.
Both games are exceptional ones, with their strengths and flaws.

Yes the recoil is a little low on COD, however, it's over the top on KZ2 considering how everything is futuristic. Having a gun which handles like a Thompson is lame. Even the XM8 can be shoot with better accuracy and less recoil.

Would you guys please stop, this has nothing to do with which game is more realistic. Neither are realistic because you can respawn. I win, get over it.
Sony cares more than they are showing. Who cares about Guitar Hero anymore, but Call of Duty would be a huge hit to future Sony console sales. Sony cannot lose Activision. While I think Activision will not let Sony go, Sony needs to take this company seriously.

Sony does need Activision but they also need to put a strong front up with "we're not going to take this kind of bullshit". Worst comes to worst you lose COD and guitar hero. Shame Sony will still have Rockband, the better of the two in my opinion. Might i add that they were talking about 2010, 2011 which probably would feature a Ps3 price drop realistically in those years anyway. A pretty dumb move by a CEO to tell his opinion, not the company's.

It's a bluff. Does Sony need Activision? Yes. Does Activision need Sony? Yes. They need Sony more than Sony needs them. Not supporting one of the HD console makers would only hurt them.
No thrid party developer would want to lose 40% of their profit. He made a fool of himself with his comments. Activision are selling games like Guitar hero and whatever for rip off prices and then they have the nerve to complain on another company. Sony wants to make money just like Activision wants. A PS3 price cut is coming when Sony can make up for it with good software sales. All he wanted was some attention and he got it. Publicity, good or bad is always a positive thing for them.

okay first all, you god damn idiots ever think maybe their armor is why they can take half a frag, and if you want realistic why are you playing vid games, I actually can't stand that so many games are trying to be realistic, what's wrong with creating a freaky weird world where the normal laws of physics don't apply on purpose?
anyways on to the point, does Sony need them, not really, their a publisher not a developer, if they do go through with their threat the developers will just go to another publisher simple as that

1) First of all, despite "armour" being in the term "body armour" it doesn't mean they're wearing a tank on their chests. Most armour can be made from anything from kevlar, to metals to ceramics. How about we do a test? You wear some standard military grade body armour, and I'll shoot a 7.62 into your chest. Now, hoping it doesn't penetrate or miss the small plate which is in soldier's body armour, chances are you'll still be winded and probably unable to hold your rifle.
2) I'll then put half a clip of MP5(9mm) rounds into you, you'll be dead within less than half a clip k?
3) Because some people like realistic games?
In all, body armour doesn't always work. They're not all killed by IED's, headwounds or lucky snags on the femoral. Who's the idiot here? :/

I don't really think SONY needs Activision honestly, especially with the one billion Guitar Heroes coming out every goddamn month. I mean do they expect SONY to beg for them to come back? Obviously not since SONY isn't really fazed by this. They're still going to sell consoles, and if and when SONY drops the price on their console Activision will shut the hell up. I mean hell what is Activision going to do if or once SONY is the top dog if they decide to stop supporting them?

Good posts, and I agree. Activision cannot be the #1 third party publisher if they stop supporting SONY. Activision would get hurt more than SONY in this case, but still, losing Call of Duty would be a pretty big blow in the short term.
I do believe it is a bluff and Activision wants attention because EA got a lot of attention at E3. If SONY could drop the price, they would. They know their console is more pricey than people would like, but they CANNOT afford a price drop right now. I expect a price drop for this Holiday season, but nothing sooner and one company no matter how big, will not force SONY to lose more money.
