I thought i'd make a thread about the best things of this gen of gaming..
my best 3:rd gen inovation is Assassin's Creed,(i played it just now) but that game showed alot of potentiel and things not known before the game, the animtion of Altair is just spot on (not perfect but close) .. the game itself isnt as good as i had wanted it to be but the things hey did is just fucking great/amazing, you reall feel like you're playing a cold ice assassin.. but i'd give the game 7.0/10 because its not that good of a game but just the tech-parts of it, i bow for the game designer. and another one good game is LBP, i havent even played it but thats some good shit, even my girl friends (that dont play video games) wants to play that just of watching a trailer.

Video game consoles are in their seventh generation. It didn't start with Nintendo, you know.
Magnavox? Coleco? Atari? Do these names mean nothing to you?

Don't worry, I have full faith in Nintendo to maintain their position as the lead hardware developer in the industry. Squaresoft would never leave them.

Exactly. I mean, who else can even compete? Sega? The morons who thought the Sega CD was a good idea? What possible use would CDs be to consoles?

None whatsoever, but I hear that Nintendo and Sony are working together on such a system for the SNES.

Brand new leaked image. This definitely confirms the Nintendo-Sony collaboration. I wonder what these two companies will produce together in the future...

I'm not sure what I think about this though, I just don't think Sony hardware can justify being fused to a Nintendo machine. We all know Nintendo are leagues and bounds ahead and it's always going to stay that way.

Exactly, everyone knows cartridges are the best thing for the video game industry. I applaud the direction Nintendo are taking and can see them leading the industry for decades to come.

Isn't Uncharted Drake's Fortune the best next gen game? I haven't played it yet, but some people say it was different from all the other games, thanks to the gameplay and motion capture.
Uncharted apparently featured an animation engine that handled procedural animation. It was supposed to be very impressive. I haven't played it but Among Theives looks fucking insane so I'm going have to check this series out.
The most innovative game I've heard of this gen is the upcoming DS game Scribblenauts which blows my fucking mind.

This topic in embarrassing. I guess I'll never understand how people can be so uninformed about gaming.

PS3 is current gen. And best is relative, I'd give that title to Mario Galaxy even though some people don't even consider the Wii a current generation console.

lol @ this being the third console generation.
Anyway, I think that Dead Rising is one of the few inovative games that showed stuff that could only be done on the new generation's hardware. A lot of games like Halo and even Killzone 2 could have been done last gen without a whole lot of changed besides graphics. But a game like Dead Rising simply couldn't because of the amount of power needed to render all those zombies. Seriously! that game had hundreds of zombies on screen at one! It was the first game that made me really feel like I was playing a "next-gen" game.
As far as just plain "most innovative" game this gen, I'd say Mirrors Edge wins that. Well actually, it's a tie between Mirrors Edge and Super Mario Galaxy.

It's not so much that posting something misinformed in a gaming forum voids it of credibility. It's that posting something ignorant, misinformed and, lets be honest, fucking retarded, in a forum which promotes intelligence and objectivity does.

Well I dunno, they all seem to sort of blur together for me so once the thread dies down I forget who was personally responsible for what. I live in the ever changing now.
