I've decided to post a few frequently asked questions here for people who haven't heard much about FFXIII. They are based on what Square-Enix has told us so far. I get alot of emails from people asking these questions so I hope they're useful.
If you have any more suggestions please post and I'll add them :) Remember they have to be frequently asked questions.
What is the difference between Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII?
Each of the games are in seperate worlds and time periods. The only thing relating the games is the Crystal mythology in them.
Will this game be released on PS2?
This game is a next-gen exclusive. Development of FFXIII began on the PS2 but it was cancelled and moved to the PS3.
When will any of the FNC games be released?
There is no official release date for any of the games. Nomura has simply stated that FFXIII will not be out in 2007. Square-Enix is notorious for spending a long time developing games so get ready for a long wait.
When will the Jump Festa 06 trailers be released?
Square-Enix hasn't given a date for the trailers to be released to the public. The Versus E3 trailer was released 6 months after it was shown in the closed mega theatre so if that is anything to go by it could possibly be released in May/June this year.
Will there be any other games in the Fabula Nova Crystallis compilation?
So far only 3 have been announced which are FFXIII, Versus and Agito. A diagram was leaked from Square-Enix containing the 3 announced games and spaces for another 3. These games are yet to be confirmed. Also the trademark for FINAL FANTASY HAERESIS XIII was filed by Square during May last year which could possibly be one of the 3 games.
Is Final Fantasy XIII being developed on the White Engine or the Unreal 3 Engine?
Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII are both being developed on the White Engine and neither are being moved over or changed to the Unreal Engine. Square-Enix have only licensed it. Mention of a drop, switch or anything related to Unreal 3 Engine and Final Fantasy has not been mentioned and any rumors of a change are founded on a mistake in an interview with the Square-Enix president Yoichi Wada.
