For the International Zodiac FF12 can you still use the original license board or do you only have the option of the new 12 license boards? Is it true that now it's easier to get good items/ more gil or is it like 10 gil more and 5% more chance of getting a good item? To what extent can you control summons and guests?

In the international you do get the choice of 12 license boards, each with different abilities and stat boosts. They are used to give characters different jobs such as Dragoon, Priest (Healer) and a Tank, (damage soaker).

Not sure about the loots and gil but the controlling of guest characters and Espers is different. You can actually control them to do what you want them to do such as heal another party member. You can even change their gambits. For example, you can make Zodiac use his ultimate technique on an enemy with the highest health.

Plus there is a boss battle against all 5 Judge Magisters, but thats in trial mode.

If you want more information you should check google and see if that will link you to a good site.

I don't know about easier to get good items. You can't buy Bubble Belts or those thingies that give double EXP, I can't remember what they're called because I only got 1 in the whole fucking game and I think that was from a boss battle.

Stinkin' international version. You know what else sucks? You can't switch between license boards, so if you get it make sure you pre-plan which jobs will give you a semi-balanced party. On my first playthrough on it I ended up with Cure as my best healing spell. Second time through was a bit better but the only way to learn Haste was to through the mage/non-mage dynamic out and make one character a Time Mage when I already had a White, Black and Red Mage.

I think you might get a smidge more EXP.

I just skipped having Haste btw. Job-specific boards would've been a good idea had they given you the option to switch once completing them or just switch at some point with the techniques you've learnt carrying over as in FFV.

FFIV, FFIX and the first half of FFX say hello.

Also, everyone in the original FFXII could learn everything and your Gambits gave that game the Job System. You now get 12 unique license boards to make your very own fixed Job system like FFIV, FFIX and the first half of FFX. If you want a Job System then play the original FFXII.

X was different, you had 5 jobs to split between 6 characters. Not difficult. IX I've never played and IV I can barely remember the combat system but wasn't everyone's career set for them? This time you're trying to fit 6 people into 12 careers and there's no 'well I've taken this person a bit in this direction so now I'll take a detour down this path to learn this spell, creating a well-rounded character'.

Have you played the International version?

Golden Amulet I believe. I've never played the international version but I'd of thought you could at least find those items at the Centurio bazaar. They probably did it to reign in excessive license purchases, trying to prevent uber-powered characters, in the same vein as the Zodiac boards.

Shame though that it sounds so frustrating. I was always intrigued by the international version of XII; guess I won't ever bother to seek it out. My god I hope they come out with a new single player FF that utilizes an updated Job System from V.

Nah I was thinking of the Embroidered Tippet (Google, I owe ya one). Golden Amulets were also fairly rare though I think. If I could be bothered to find the disc, roll over and turn the PS2 on I'd check how many I got but I think it was 2, but I only had 1 for most of it.

No but I did read everything about it and watched gameplay videos of it upon the August 2007 release of it.

It was supposed to be a Fixed Job System game but they let you choose out of more jobs than you could actually use. At least in the original FFXII the cast can all learn everything and you can make your own unique jobs using the Gambit System, it's far more flexible than the International version.
