Well as this is the last forum not to be posted in i'll set up a simple poll :D
Do you think its a good move for S-E to be making this game for mobile phones and not another portable system like the PSP or even the DS which have much superior graphics and gameplay (IMO).

Well, we say "mobile" in england, first off, you brytash. :nag:
Second, CELL  is gay. Id never buy a mobile game but its meant to be popular in japan or something.
Anyway i voted No because hard anyone would choose portable over mobile that i know. D:

Cell. Lol. :cunning:
Well, mobile phones over their are waaayy more advanced in technology then ours, *though we're talking about Japan, so not a big surprise*
I voted 'Both have good arguments' but, from what I've seen/heard about Agito, I'd love it to have been on the PSP, seems like a good game.
I wonder if the UK will ever see it.

"Both have good arguments". I don't have a cell phone so I don't really know. I'm about to get one for the first time but it's ancient. I'm hoping to get a new one for Christmas though. That's the only reason why I don't like FFAXIII. I just don't have an able cell phone.Yes, I would have liked it much more if it was on the PSP. But if I do get a cell phone...

Phone tech evolves so fast that I'm afraid to upgrade mine because of plans. And until I know exactly what type of phone i need for FFVII: BC I doubt I would be playing much games other then the random time spent on Might and Magic. So I vote "No". Not out of hate but out of problems with getting new phones without breaking contracts.

I agree, the amount of different phones with different specifications all needing to be upgraded every year seems too much trouble to want to become a hardcore mobile gamer. They do have contracts with Panisonic for the release of BC but i'm not sure if Agito is the same

I voted no cos I dont think UK will get to see agito on mobile, and even if we did, the hype wouldnt last long I dont think. People stopped playing snake a while back and that was the biggest thing on mobile.

I have a mobile phone, but I know from discussion elsewhere that my mobile phone won't do. It isn't advanced enough and hardly any Americans or people from the U.K. for that matter have a cell phone that will come close to what is needed for the game.
I voted for both have good arguments because I think that putting it on the cell phone was a wise move for the Japanese population, but I also think that making it a mulit-platform portable game would've been better. This would include the PSP, DS, and Mobile.

We got two options for a FFgame to a mobile phone.
1: Try to use the most modern cellphones to create complex 3D grafic that will look like that the Kingdom hearts mobile game. (you can't create great 3D on a mobile)
http://imagenes.viciojuegos.com/imagenes/juegos/9890/imagen27g.jpg
2: You can use sprites and 2D to make a better looking game. AND it works on a lot more phones.

I would go for 2D!

Yea i agree. Almost all coloured phones can play sprite games. I had a Rayman game on my old phone which looked pretty good, but there was a bug where a jump was too big to get over so you couldnt complete it -_-
Either they make it compatible for everyone or just release it in Japan where it will work and be popular I think.

I would go for a handheld console rather than a mobile phone for a game like this. For the simple fact that It probably won't be released outside of Japan any time in the near future

well, my old P900 (now it's charging function grilled by an old charger), produces early PS1 graphics. if you search up v-rally for P900, you can see what we think of as enormously good for a cellphone. but agito is closer to PS2, END-PS2!!! maybe I should just use pop's old P800 for now and wait until phones get 3Ghz+ processors...in about five-six years or so, along with GPS, IP, and built-in true-HD VAIO projectors and 12Mpx camera :P and I fogot to mention the 500GB solid state disc  or just till they can play agito, and that's IF
They could at least port it to PS3...

Here's an interesting idea:
What if they were to make the complete game for the PSP and have it involve using your cell to get deeper into the game. (Lol I can't really explain it)
For instance, say you reach a certain point in the game and there is a new character and his past is unknown to you as a player, BUT you were able to play as that new character on your cellphone and see his hidden past. Lol Something like Before Crisis I guess. How about side-quest and stuff on your cell? XD I think that would be cool, but how many players would pay to play a side quest?
BTW, aren't mobile games usually short anyway? How long will Before Crisis be? How long was the Kingdom Hearts mobile game?

im surprised they didnt put it on the DS like they did with Dragon quest

It wouldn't surprise me if it was converted to one of the handheld consoles at some point, although I guess it depends on how well the phone version sells.
I would be prepared to bet that one of the other unanounced FNC games (Final Fantasy Haeresis XIII?) will be a DS title, simply because of the huge success of the DS in Japan and the strong sales of Square's recent DS games.

I think that on cell is a bad move cos Square only thinks in Japan and not the rest of the word lol. Why not on something more accesible like PSP or a DS?

How is a cellphone not accessible? Everybody has one, way more then a portable game system. Now sales wise it doesn't seem like a smart move for the North American and PAL markets but don't say it isn't accessible.

Well for some countries it isn't accesible I don't mean that it isn't accesible to have a cellphone. What I tried to say was that how in this world are we going to get a game for a cellphone?! I mean it's easier to get a PSP game or a DS game. But there are countries that are not going to be able to play this game lol

You download games with your cellphone. Since phone technology is improving for all countries it won't be that hard to get. The countries that won't be able to play this game could have the same problems with getting it on DS or PSP. Most counties that don't have them and rely on importing. I do get what you are saying but you are saying it wrong.

It's harder to play on a cellphone than a regular console, plus the graphics would not be as good on a screen of a cellphone than on a TV
Ultima Star
Jun 15 2007, 06:40 PM
I agree with fearless:nod:
It's way better to play a game on a tv^_^
But then..if you play a game on a PSP then you can't see it on the TV screen >_< but it'd be way better if thiss game was released on the PSP videogame console

Its a bad idea to me. It should have atleast been announced for the PSP.

the MAIN problem i have with it being a mobile game is, i have us cellular. the only way to get games on a us cellular phone is to have easyedge. i don't have easyedge, and i don't plan on paying for easyedge to use once to download one game. maybe if i could download it to my computer then bluetooth it to my phone, i'd buy it. but honestly i don't normally play games on my phone, i actually forget that they're there sometimes.

EDIT: Whoa, sorry for bumping this thread. I failed to notice how old it was.
My opinion on this, is that both have pros and cons.
I, for one, do not play games on my cell phone (at least not yet). I think it would be better if Square-Enix made Agito for the PSP, in my opinion. The PSP has a much bigger screen, and better graaphics, than a cell phone does.
I don't know many people who play games on their cell phone anyway, besides usual ones, like Pac Man, etc.
In my opinion, the only positive aspect of playing Agito on a cellphone would be having the access to it whether on the go, or at home. Then again, if it were made for the PSP, it is accessible as well, even when traveling. The PSP is more or less a cell phone now anyway, so I don't know why Square-Enix wouldn't want to make Agito for the PSP instead.

I don't know how Japan works.. but mobile phones (like any gadget) are pretty popular there so it may work there..
Rest of the world... use PSP.
Most of ours mobiles phone sucks in games.. only the Iphone has some decent graphic
plus PSP was made for games... mobile phones weren't.
So i would give preference to PSP version .. and maybe lunch a mobile phone version, but i think it wouldn't be very popular in japan (although i'm just guessing) and it wouldn't work well outside japan

At first I thought this game was just a lost cause, there is no way in hell I would every buy a cell phone for a game. Now that it's on PSP it is a must get for me now.
