Artwork is Yoshitaka Amano
I don't see any simularities. I really doubt Death Note Manga was first to design the look of (cliche' Shinigami in Japan) Amano-san has plenty of Art that has that look like the painting way before Death Note Manga.
What was the artist who did Death Note influenced by? Angel Sanctuary?(doubt it)
Takeshi Obata have an interview where he is talking about influences for art work in Death Note? It's probably all his own^_- he won a award there should be something on the net of him talking about his influences.

...oh boy. ..most games..anime..movies..whatever usually base some stuff from legends/folklore. That's how it goes.

Other people would say Bleach. I think it's just that there are that many people who believe in death gods. But leave that shit in Serious Discussion. Damn. Just 'cause there's a death god does not mean Death Note.

"More research shows that the Shinigami in Japanese manga come from the Tarot card for the number 13, “Greater Arcana” or “Death,” depicted as a skeleton riding on a horse in a suit of armor, or just a skeleton with a sword or scythe. More interesting, and perhaps a mere coincidence, is the fact that there are 13 protection squads made up of Shinigami (Death gods, or sould reapers) in “Soul Society,” the place that the souls of the dead go to pass on. Now, this is a different look, since they are not skeletal or scary looking; the scary ones are the hollow, the demonic/twisted spirits who live in Hueco Mundo, [Hollow World]. (Interestingly, all the names of the creatures and characters in Hueco Mundo are in Spanish) They generally posess skeletal masks and wear black robe like clothes.
When comparing death gods in Death Note, it’s yet another story. These do look skeletal and creepy, and they esentially gain life by taking human lives by writing their names in notebooks with time and type of death. They live in a barren world and pass away time by gambling and sometimes meddling in the affairs of humans. Either way, they are not a pleasant lot.
While there are interesting connections to be drawn, I don’t know that there is anything conclusive to say about Santa Muerte and Shinigami, other than there are interesting overtones. Perhaps it is just human nature to be afraid of death, so it is easier to try to personifiy death and deify it."

LOL NO ... odin is a viking god with a 6 legged horse thus why hes on a horse ... the only reason he has a axe that could kill most is because it was insanly strong and so was he ... fi u relating this to ff8 ull also know that seifer killed him .. meaning he didnt have the power of death just the power to kill xD if u get wat i mean ... point being ... odin has nothign to do with the tarrot card
