Honestly, you've probably watched every single "super fantasticaly mainstream" anime that I can think of :P.

It all depends what you're into really. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is pretty good and so is Shakugan no Shana.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya follows the high school life of Haruhi Suzumiya, a young and very active high school girl, and those who are caught up in her antics. While Haruhi is the central character to the plot, the story is told from the point of view of Kyon, one of Haruhi's classmates.

Kyon is an ordinary freshman high school student who has recently given up his fantasies of espers, time travelers, and aliens as he left middle school. When he chooses to speak to Haruhi, he unwittingly sets off a chain of events which drag him into surreal situations; he is drawn further into a world eerily like the fantasies he had just managed to outgrow, with Haruhi at its center.

Definatly worth the watch, i enjoyed it ALOT.
Also the Soundtrack for it is brilliant beyond words. ;_;

Claymore

Claymore follows the adventures of the Claymore warrior Clare. The plot follows her as she fights Yoma and struggles to hold on to her humanity. Starting in the 3rd volume, there is a flashback to her childhood on how she was 'adopted' by the Claymore Teresa. After Teresa rebels against the organization and is subsequently killed, Clare volunteers to become a Claymore using Teresa's flesh in order to take revenge on the Awakened who killed her. With determination and her human friend Raki by her side, Clare overcomes her low demonic power by honing the skills she inherited from Teresa, and other Claymores. As the series progresses, she becomes stronger and a better fighter, gradually earning the respect of strong allies and coming in conflict with the shadowy organization, the top Claymores who support them, and many powerful Awakened Beings.

It's a good anime for what it's worth. But indefinitely the original manga, (which is still on going) is by far better. Even despite Clare being a complete wank 3/4 of the way through, let alone never listening to anybody.
It's only one series, but it's worth watching if you don't want to read the manga.

"Azumanga Daioh" (funny high school anime, but not the typical it really IS funny)

"Wolf's Rain" (Wolves who disguise themselves as humans looking for "Paradise")

"Ergo Proxy" (Inspector is investigating weird murders ina dome city where androids and humans live together, but things start getting weird when she meets a guy named Vince; it's kinda hard to explain)

"Gantz" (These people are sent into this room where from there you're sent to this world that's a game where they hunt and kill aliens/monsters, and if you die in the game you die in real life)

"Vampire Hunter D" (Guess it depends on which one you see since there are many, but it's mainly about a half vampire/half human (dhampir) who is trying to stop Vampires fomr making the world a horrible place after a nuclear holocaust broke out)

I'm to lazy to say anymore right now...

Kyo Kara Maoh, well if you dont mine calm acceptance of homosexuality in the setting (stole that from wikipedia) Kyo Kara Maoh is a great anime. its about this 15 year old boy named yuri who goes to a demon kingdom everyonce in awhile and its always threw water the first time hes flushed down a toilet then he becomes a demon king and engaged to another guy in the 1st of second episode (yuri had no clue what was going on) When it first starts out there doesnt seem to be much of a plot but it grows and then becomes kinda seriouse by the end of the first season but still has some funny moments, the Genre of it is Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy, Romance, Bishōnen

Its one of my favorite animes
(Conrads mine):wub:yes im a crazy fangirl

Ergo Proxy is a very good show, goes into philosophy and how society's are run, etc etc. Just ignore the last two episodes the story quickly takes a nosedive in favor of a quick resolution and lengthy dialogs that don't make much sense (a recurring theme in anime unfortunately).

I don't think anyone's mentioned Paranoia Agent, which is about a boy with a bat who terrorizes Toyko... well not really, its more of an excuse for the guy making it to completely destroy contemporary Japanese society for all it's materialism and obsession with stupid crap (my favorite episode is probably the third, really messed me up). The same guy made Paprika which is a great anime film btw.

Cowboy Bebop is a ridiculously fun show about a ragtag group of bounty hunters who hunt criminals for cash and their adventures. Thats just the set up theres a lot more to it, mainly this show just oozes style.

I cant say I dont like anime because anime is japanese animation. Japanese animation is FF13 cutscenes and so forth. So Ill just say I don't watch japanese cartoons like bleach and gundum. There is only one japanese cartoon that I like and is for older teens, or seinen if you will. The series is called " Kino's journey" and I highly reccommend it. It's not action packed, but it is philosophy packed O yea!

Air, it's about a girl who longs for friends, but when she's on the verge of making one she freaks out, one of my first animes, I love it.
Also Ergo proxy already mentioned here, sayonara zetsubou sensei is a black comedy, Haibane renmei, this one is amazing, the music for it is made by the same guy who did shadow of the colossus.
Shigofumi: Letters from the departed a fantasy-like anime.
And my favourite voices of a distant star, pure magic.

Neon Genesis Evangelion Pretty much one of the best anime ever made by man. For those who love sci-fi and schizophrenia, it's double win. :aldo:

Ergo Proxy Robots, robots, robots. OK, they're called AutoReiv this time. Focus on the development of both mental and psychological traits of the characters. Awesome.

Dragon Ball Sorry if you think it's cheesy/childish, it's arguably one of the best anime ever created too. Every character is memorable, in any of the three parts of the saga (DB, DBZ and DBGT, although I think DBGT was a bit of a letdown).

Saint Seiya Bloody battles, overkill moves, blah, blah, blah. You know the drill.

Yuyu Hakusho I dare you not like this. The whole spirit thing here is superbly explored.

Well, there's a shitload more, but I can't be arsed to write it all like there's no tomorrow :aldo:

+Chrno Crusade ( One of the saddest anime I've ever seen.)
+Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations (Helps if you've watched Tsubasa Chronicle before this. Anyway, better animation than Tsubasa Chronicle and more loyal to the manga's storyline. Also where the real plot starts)

X/1999:

The events take place in 1999. The end of the world is fast approaching as superhuman individuals gather and take sides in the city of Tokyo, the battle site of Armageddon. The key player in this day of reckoning is Kamui Shirō, a young man who returns home to Tokyo after a six-year absence to protect those dearest to him, Kotori and Fūma Monou, and fulfill his mother's dying wish.
Unbeknownst to the three friends, Kamui and Fūma are destined to fight each other during the end of the world. The first half of the series focuses on the gathering of the soldiers in the final battle and culminates with Kotori's death at the hands of her brother Fūma, sealing Kamui's choice as the protector of mankind and Fūma's place as his foil. The second half follows Kamui as he grows into his role as savior while the world moves along toward its inevitable destruction.
The story is Kamui's heroic jorney, where the narrative places an emphasis on his choices and how they affect the world around him as he attempts to reconcile his dual destinies.

Everyone and their dog should watch Michiko to Hatchin. It's got that sexy Cowboy Bebop feel to it (I think some of the same people worked on it actually). It also ventures outside normal anime territory when it comes to it's setting (a fictionalized South American country), looks good and is quite entertaining.

go to animeseason.com

you can filter each (full) series by genre and view by user rating and popularity. They've also got hundreds of complete, all japanese (except cowboy bebop)/english subbed anime that are always up and running. I've never had any problems not being able to view an episode...

as for recommendations I'd have to say that black lagoon is becoming my favorite series...

● The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu)
● Cardcaptor Sakura
● Azumanga Daiō

But if you're REALLY looking for quality, go for:

● Cowboy Bebop (Please watch this before the live-action movie comes. Otherwise you'll be scarred for this and for every subsequent life)
● Katsuhiro Otomo's Akira
● Nausicäa of the Valley of the Wind (one of the best animations ever)
● Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion
● Vandread

Katekyo Hitman Reborn is hilarious! I'm watching it now!

It's about Tsuna who finds out he's to become a mafia boss. It's where I find out how cool the mafia can becomes in an anime. One drawback though. There isn't much action in the beginning and actual story arcs start in 20+ episodes and after..you can probably skip. It's already in the fourth season..and the batle scenes become more epic as ever. :D

Honestly, the best way to find out about anime is to go to some big anime website (animeseason.com, animecrazy.net, or anivide.com) and pick a random show and watch the pilot episode. For me, 99% of the shows that I liked had me hooked by the first 5-10 minutes. So if you like a pilot episode of some show you're bound to like the rest. And yes, I know this doesn't apply all the time, but this method just seems more fun to me than to ask other people who have different tastes than you...

Where Italy is useless and love pasta, Japan is disciplined introvert, France is romantic, Russia wants to take over the world, America is always eating a hamburger, and nobody notices Canada!!!

All the good ones have already been mentioned except one, and I really can't belive no one ever mentions:
Shura no Toki :
Plot Summary: Legends tell of an invincible martial art known as Mutsu Enmei-Ryu, an unarmed style that allows the user to defeat any number of armed opponents using incredible speed and strength. This is the story of three generations of those who bear the name Mutsu, and their encounters and battles with the strongest fighters of their era. ( Taken from Animenewsnetwork.com )

That one is simply awesome, great "graphics", good characters, good story, imo, one of the best animes I've watched, and I've watched A LOT of em.... at least a hundred... lots of free time before... meh'

Well, I've been seeing mostly action animes but here's a good one: Clannad and its sequel, Clannad After Story.
Tomoya Okazaki is a third year high school student resentful of his life. His mother passed away from a car accident when he was younger, causing his father to resort to alcohol and gambling. This results in fights between the two until Tomoya's shoulder is injured in a fight. Since then, Tomoya has had distant relationships with his father, causing him to become a delinquent over time. While on a walk to school, he meets a strange girl named Nagisa Furukawa who is a year older, but is repeating due to illness. Due to this, she is often alone as most of her friends have moved on. The two begin hanging out and slowly, as time goes by, Tomoya finds his life shifting in a new direction.

It's utterly hilarious at times as he main character likes to pull pranks on people and his friend is somehow ALWAYS getting beaten up by girls. The story is pretty much him helping everyone's problems, which are always

depressing somehow. If you're a crybaby, be warned. You will probably cry throughout the series. In fact, Clannad should be illegal for all the times it can make u cry. I was strong though, but the last few episodes got me. It was the only time I ever cried to anything media-related. Well, unless u count the times when I was still young and shouting at the game over screen for not being able to beat the boss. I even had tantrums where I would hit random objects. But...uuh...moving on, I'd say it was one of my favorites to date. (Never played the VN though)

Fairy Tail also cath my eye lately. Its quite awesome. If you like shounen genres then you might wanna start Fairy Tail now, as soon as possible

Agreed with the <strike>post above me</strike> last post on the previous page, on Fairy Tail. Because Lucy is sexyyyyy.

Hmm... The series I've been keeping up with are those in Shounen Jump, including Bakuman and Reborn. Hetalia is good too, especially if you like humor and historical events. I don't really know what else to really suggest considering I limit myself to mostly reading manga.

...But apparently they have a new Darker Than Black.

Good story, sad ending, and nice booty.
