sorry if this is old but, i just finished watching this video over at gametrailers.com called GT Pop-Block. basically, what they do is pick out trailers/teasers/cut scenes and do an in-depth look at them to see if they can spot any clues/easter eggs/hints about an upcoming game.
they recently made a video about the FFXIII demo and pointed out a couple of cool things, but towards the end, they direct your attention to Lightning's cape.... and its' striking resemblance to the capes that the people in FFAgito wear...

check out the vid!!! its only 4 minutes long.

here are 2 images. one of the characters from Agito and one of Lightning. (couldn't find a picture of her with her back turned to us..)

sorry, but i never really thought her cape had much significance. i thought it was just for show, but if this assumption regarding a connection between Lightning and the people of Agito are true, then i can't say that i'm not surprised. maybe it isn't even a connection between the people, but just the school that the people in Agito attend. the capes are a part of their uniform right? (i guess)
i don't wanna sound like i'm on to something revolutionary here, but all of these "FF13" games DO connect with each other one way or another right? whether it be through crystals or capes.
only problem i have is that, Lightning's cape is only half the size and isn't as red.

They connect through a common mythos, anything else is just a co-incidence and it's still a pretty big stretch to describe this as one. It's a cape; there are limits to what you can do with a cape before it stops being a cape. As it is, they don't fasten the same way.

I won't even bother considering the 'they're both red' point.

wait, are you 100% on that? or just assuming?

damn, i didn't notice the difference in the way the capes were fastened. that probably debunks the direct connection between lightning and anything from agito. maybe...

or maybe capes have something to do with characters who can use magic?! the people in agito go to a magic school right!? and lightning can also use magic right?! maybe "capes" signify some sort of achievement in being recognized to be able to use magic? aha!

Tetsuya Nomura is chief designer on almost every SquareEnix flagship titles. His creativity and originality is not endless, therefore rehashing almost all of his work. All the main character have the same, smooth face, and about that cape, it's simply just a coincidence. Since it's the same desginer that would explain all obvious similiarities.

Nomura has a tendency of be a bit cliché with his character designs latelty. The only way you can tell them apart is by their haircut. And is it only me, or has his overall style been changed drastically since KH? Maybe he has just changed his pen, but the outlines are much smoother and it all just looks a bit cartoony, if you ask me. (or anime, whatever)

Yes, yes I am.

Square-Enix has confirmed that although none of the titles will have relating storylines, they will share the same crystal mythology

This:or maybe capes have something to do with characters who can use magic?! the people in agito go to a magic school right!? and lightning can also use magic right?! maybe "capes" signify some sort of achievement in being recognized to be able to use magic? aha!
is even dumber than your original theory.

I think he's become a bit of a cliche of himself with a tendency towards overly sharp, angular designs (though they then get rounded out by the rendering process). His obsession with belts/zips/buckles/leather is well documented on this forum and continues to grow. Also it's possible he's just getting stagnant and running out of ideas or just trying to design what he thinks his audience wants.

But that's for another thread.

Square-Enix has confirmed that although none of the titles will have relating storylines, they will share the same crystal mythology well, i guess that's puts all speculation to rest.[/thread]

A lot of people say that l'cie and fal'cie are present in agito. if you watch the latest trailer, you hear that the voice says rushi (l'cie) at a moment...
Also agito would be released last in the franchise because it would connect the other FNC games

lol wait, ur confusing me. aren't l'cie and fal'cie the same thing?

fal'cie is the race and l'cie are the people?

fal'Cie and l'Cie should be in Versus too, or at least that's what I remember reading in the forum. It's not a big deal though, they're just fucking names, it doesn't mean they'll be the same l'Cie/fal'Cie as FFXIII. They're part of FNC, I think it's obvious they'll make these little references, but it's no big deal. Just a bit of fan-service.

The Fal'Cie choose people called L'cie who need to perform certain tasks. It sounds lovely but when the Fal'Cie says that you have to destroy the world, you HAVE to do it! Lightning and Snow also receive certain tasks (and from the end of the January trailer somebody else also??), and they need to perform it wether it's against their own will.

"Cocoon - A paradise crafted by the inscrutable fal'Cie some thirteen centuries past
Pulse - A vast world stretching out beneath the floating shell of Cocoon, and the source of lurking menace
The summoned - Salvation of the ill-fated l'Cie.
l'Cie - Those marked by the fal'Cie for a greater destiny
The future belongs not to those who wait..."

"The future belongs not to those who wait"
.................................................. .................................................. ................
..........................................
But SE is making us wait a long time for FFXIII... That's soo mean:'(

so we're all clear that the only thing that connects the ffxiii series is the mythology

i wonder though do the l'Cie who die possibly turn into the summoned? because when you read about them it says they're the salvation of the ill fated l'Cie. *spoiler much?*

i thought summons were all "digital" in ff13? like, none of the summons are the real thing, but artificially made. why would they need a dead l'cie for that? unless my knowledge about the summons is wrong and i'm waaay off here >_>

We don't know anything about summons. They're summoned with disks, but it doesn't mean they're not real, I guess :wtf:

So if Big Papa or the metrosexual glasses guy started wearing a red cape they'd obviously be related to Lightning and Agito in some amazing way.:wtf:

Devegas
May 06 2009, 09:32 PM
capes aren't really that much proof to say the two games are related all we just know is that the l'Cie, the summoned, and the crystals are it
bottom line there is never a direct relation between the compilation series
