As for a cancellation, I won't do much. I'd instead be looking forward to Agito, which has a higher chance of being canceled than Versus. Then, the cycle of inactivity again.

Ive had this discussion with a few ppl numerous times. Versus is NOT a spin-off of something else, but it is a spin-off in the sense that it is a Final Fantasy game outside of the the core series. Before anyone runs at me with a pitchfork for calling versus a spin off and not a real Final Fantasy game..I didn't say that, its as much of a game as FFXIII, if not more or less who the hell knows that's besides the point that its not Final Fantasy XIII. It has nothing to do with the quality of the game, expectations for it or anything of the sort. ^_^

Versus means to go Against..."Change direction" is the definition they use but it can be simplified to that. I think they picked the title to highlight the most apparent contrast between FFXIII and Versus...but im talking obvious stuff here anyway...

Yes, by the fact that it is a compilation. However, there is only one Final Fantasy XIII proper, and that is..well you know. Gosh its such a strange subject and all..The compilation was done to celebrate the 13 entry and the 20 year anniversary of Final Fantasy (althought that is irrelevant now). But FFXIII is still the 13th entry in the numbered series regardless.

Well technicially they are as the series itself could be considered spun-off from the first one. Maybe, just call the numbered ones sequels for lack of a better word to describe 'part a series of loosely related stories', and call the various FF-branded games and compilations spin-offs as that is the probably easiest term to describe them as a whole in relation to the main series.
