Yurian gave me the idea for this.

I think it would be a good idea for anyone that has any, post any renders (Cut outs) you have. So we can use this thread and the renders in it as a resource, because if you're anything like me in photoshop then you try to avoid cutting out of any kind at all costs. XD

uhm..there are a number of ways to do it. If you just want color and shit, use Color Balance/Hue & Saturation. I think askyria uses textures, but I do brushing and then colorization. =D

I dont even have a style :( But I'll be retiring from the business soon, I mean the signatures. I can still use Photoshop for school work. Pretty damn awesome to become frens with it. LOL G'luck :3

Ooh, nice renders, Naunen. One thing though, I'm not sure if my eyes are just going bad, but sometimes there's a thin whiteish line around some of your renders. Dunno if that's just me.

And as for how to make sigs, there's no 'right' way to do it; for me, I just experimented and after awhile I developed my own way to make them. If you experiment you'll end up with a bunch of different ways to create effects in different circumstances. For me, I use textures a lot (but not always). I also use the Displace filter to get it looking like bits of stuff are flying off -- like my sig now. Gaussian blur is helpful too in some cases.

Just cutting in photoshop around the hair is a pain in the ass for a stupid sig. Getting it to just look decent (forget about good) is hard, or at least it is for me. My hand tends to get a little shaky, then I lose focus for a second and I have to edit out my butcher of the...one strand of hair.

----I'm not sure how Yurian does it but I either use Colour Range to get rid of the background colour from the hair or Erase pixel by pixel. Other than that, Polygonal Lasso tool's my friend.

What did you use to make this.It's very good and I can't even render the hair right because there's parts of it that are only 1 strand of hair.

This hair is photoshopped - look... Lightning has not such voluminous hair.

That looks incredibly difficult especially because of the smoke that is covering the wings and such. You might want to just try using it as is, I bet it would work just as good maybe even better than by itself.

Usually I use Photoshop's Lasso Tool and Magic Wand Tool to cut, and at the end the Eraser Brush. It takes me a lot of time to reach acceptable result.

Sometimes, I go insane. Rendering is not a good hobby for impatient people. : )

The Pen Tool is also known as Masking. Masking involves creating a Layer Mask and then using the Pen Tool + Filters. This is the way I cut images out for accuracy. I also use the eraser tool with this method.

Everytime you use the Pen tool, there will always be a Layer Mask created alongside it which is responsible for the vectorized appearance.

No matter what, I'm gonna stick with my method since I can think better with the simplistics. Polygonal Lasso Tool, Eraser, and sometimes my tablet. I'm not fond of masking. Sorry I haven't been dumping renders here. xD
