Yeah, Microsoft probably paid the infamous Wada an insane amount to make the game multiplat, but wouldn't anyone else in his situation? To make a good business move, he could not show favoritism to either MS or Sony. We blame him for selling out, but shouldn't we be pointing our fingers at the extremely poor sales of the PS3 in North America and Europe? I'm dissapointed with the decision, being a PS3 owner and feeling shafted, but I'm not surprised anymore. This is a dispay of greed rearing its hideous face, but it's what propels a business to success.

At neal, yeah, the playstation 3 is more popular than the xbox 360 in europe than it is in the united states. Don't know why they're still releasing the xbox 360 version in that region though.

I dont know if it was just wada or not that made the move to go multiplat (seems unlikely) but its good that way now since more people will be able to enjoy final fantasy xiii when it eventually comes out and square will make more money out of it to put into upcoming games.

You're also forgetting that of those 2 that buy games legitimately, one of them doesn't give a shit about JRPGs and buys Halo Wars instead. So now the numbers have been narrowed down to 7. Not much of a profit from the 360.

If you look at commenters on Kotaku, you see that people who had no prior interest in the game (ie. did NOT buy a PS3 specifically because FFXIII was being released on it) actually watched that demo being played live last night and now say they want to give it a go. How many of those people do you think own just a 360? I'm willing to bet a lot. So SE is reaching a lot of people it simply couldn't other-wise by releasing it on the 360. Not everyone is going to drop $600 because they want to be a purist and play it on the system it was designed for. I personally believe it was a really smart move on their part to do what a business does, and make money off of this.

I actually plan on buying it for both systems so I can get the achievements/trophies for both and feed my curiousity to see if there actually will be a difference in how the game plays.

What you see in the demo is a pre-polish version of those scenes and Kitase stated that it represents about 50% (maybe more, maybe less, but that's the number he mentioned) of what the game will actually look like in the final version.


In that same interview, he also mentioned that FF XIII will utilize the maximum of the PS3's capabilities available with their current tools. Implying that, obviously, they'll manage to harness the potential of the PS3 in more efficient ways for subsequent games as their tools improve over time.

I think it will be a PS3 exclusive cuz from my understanding SONY published FFVII I believe so it's only right, even though Star Ocean: Second Story was published by SONY aswell and look what happened. But I think this supposed VII remake will stay as SONY's/SQUARE love child. Also I think the reason SE isn't releasing FFXIII on 360 version for Japan is because 360 isn't NEARLY as popular as PS3 and Wii, and it's probably just a waste of time for SE to even develop the game on a not-so-well-seller system in that region.
