The least good of all FFs, but enjoyable nevertheless.

I enjoyed it but I'm more for the realistic FF's (FFVII,VIII and X) unfortunately I don't seem to like too realistic/sci-fi FF's like FFXIII>_<
I hope it changes in the future. I hope they'll port FFVII,VIII and IX to the nintendo DS. After seeing FFIII and IV DS I'm sure that's possible

to me nothing can compare to ffx but my second best was ff9. i dont really like the realistic sci-fi ff-s. and i think ff9 is way better than ffvii. ffvii is much overrated. but we are different...

I've played and beaten FFIX and to me, compared to VII & VIII it was the most fun and grasping of the 3. Liked it more than 7 or 8 even though I think that 7 & 8 are the more popular ones of the PS1. S o again my opinion is that 9 is more better than 8 or 7 because of the difference in enironment of the game and story.

Not that it's worse, but it just didn't appealed me much. The story and character development were superb, I just didn't liked the design much.

The design... Yeah, I hear that argument a lot. I think it's quite retarded though.
People are often put off by the look of that game, yet technically speaking, it's a more impressive game than any that came before it. But it uses that deformed character look so people who are only into badass/cool/emo/dark stuff (and all the other moronic stuff most youngsters are into) will most certainly misjudge the game based on these superficial aspects.

It's my second favorite Final Fantasy game. Only Final Fantasy Vi is better in my opinion.
What do I think of the game?
Battles: The only problem I have is that random encounters are frequent. I like that every character has a set class. Zidane-thief and so on. I like the skill system and difficulty isn't that high, but no FF games is very hard. Trance wasn't the best overdrive system used in the series, but I don't really mind.
Characters: I liked every character but Quina. He/She was a good asset in battle but contributed nothing to the story. Zidane was a protagonist I thought was funny and I liked him. I don't know how much you have played so I won't mention any other character. I'll just say I liked the cast very much.
Story: the design might look cute and whatever, but this is the saddest Final Fantasy game I have ever played. Even so they manage to put in very much comedy in the game. Final Fantasy VI is the best game, but no other game can surpass Final Fantasy IX when it boils down to emotional drama.
So much sadness and joy, mixed perfectly.
Visuals: I know what they tried to do. Sakaguchi has on several occasions said that he wanted to go back to the roots of the series. Remember how characters looked like on NES/SNES? Big heads and such? They went for the same approach, but everyone didn't like it. I personally liked it and the enviroments looked brilliant. This game has some of the best cities in any JRPG.

Man, I won't even go further into this. People who keep saying 'oh design arguments are retarded' and derivations are full of fail.
It's just my view on it, and I even didn't looked down on the design. I just said it didn't appealed me much, not that it was a complete and utter shite.
Goddamn. Stop trying to always outsmart other people with those commonplace statements.

One of my favourites, I absolutely adore this one. Took me a lot longer get into than the other games though, oddly enough. Zidane rocks.
The deformed design never bothered me, but I would have prefered it to be realistically proportioned, mainly because most of the characters' art looked so much better than how they appeared in the games. Well, I think so at least.

Personally I'd have prefered them to look more like that, but I don't really think it detracts from the game at all.

I think that ff 9 is the best of all of the ff's, i really enjoyed it (even though i haven't beaten it yet, i have to thank the memory card that deleted my save when i got near the end twice!) I really enjoyed the story, graphics and the characters (except amarant)

FFIX was a wonderful game, it took FF back to its medieval roots and did it really well. The characters and story were great. I enjoyed every playthrough of this game (and there were a lot of those)
The only problem I have with it is the low difficulty level, but when the story's that good, it doesn't amount to such a big problem :D

FFIX is my 3rd best FF game. I loved the medieval setting, the music (it' s awesome how the music of "melodies of life" plays while your traversing around the world map), the charecters were cool (Zidane is a funny guy, less seriouse main protagonist and very diffrent to FFVII and FFVIII and also, Beatrix was badass). I liked the battle sytem becuase the "trance" aspect of the battle system was incorporated into the story. The story was interesting and at times emotional however it did not have a very original start (saving the princess kind of thing).
