For my today 3 march 09 is a very special day because I know the Japanese kanji for "my house" and for "to return", so screen 4 is the very first FFXIII line that I could fully read in Japanese and understand in English!! (it says "together we'll go home!") :D

@dnegative: Does the 1080p.mp4 trailer plays in good quality in VLC media player? For me it freezes a lot and I need to use quiktime or the media player in windows 7 (in win7 mp4 files are suported.)
Do you need to download a codec for VLC?

The lighting has been tweaked. I wouldn't be surprised if they smoothed it all out just to make it look better from the failure of how shitty the graphic's looked before.

They don't go over the screens in Photoshop. They've got some kind of tool in their engines that lets them add on extra subdivision surfaces (http://knol.google.com/k/-/-/1v4rc1st5bccg/5e5xlj/subdivisionsurfaceheadmodeling.png) (as well as the impossible supersize antialiasing) and make things look smoother that way.

The new version of the hand looks too different to be a subdivision of the old one, though; the palm is smaller, the fingers are longer and thinner, and it just looks a lot better overall. Squenix's subdivision trick wouldn't do that - it'd just round out the edges, but leave the overall profile the same otherwise.

As for other quality aspects, I think that her clothes are just subject to the subdivision rule, and would look mostly the same under that - though the shadow on Vanille's arm suggests that they're using better normal mapping now, too. The lighting in general is much better, with the shadows under the NPCs looking more like shadows, Vanille's face actually being lit, and the glowing blue thingies having a more convincing glow effect.

Indeed, i think what we're seeing here is just a more recent build from that of the last trailer, there's too many differences for it to be just a touch up

At first I figured he was just one of the people they were rescuing or something. But if that were the case, I doubt he would be behind team Nora, he'd be in front of them like the rest of the detainees.

They did say he wouldn't appear in the demo, and this scene likely will. So that might kill this theory unless they are simply cutting him from the demo.
