If you've been to the cinema in the past year, chances are you've at least had a glimpse/preview of a film incorporating some sort of 3D technology.

What you may not have realized is that 3D cinema (and 3D technology in general) is expected to be 'the next big thing' in Hollywood (http://www.physorg.com/news146380166.html) and consumer electronics (http://www.cesweb.org/exhibits/displays/default.asp) (including gaming (http://kotaku.com/5115781/playstation-3-will-be-3d-ready-in-2009) and television (http://www.dlp.com/hdtv/3-d_dlp_hdtv.aspx)).

My question to you is:

What do you think about 3D technology?

Do you think it's worth the industry investment, or would you rather see a move towards __________ ?

How much would you be willing to pay extra for a 3D television or gaming console?

Would you like Final Fantasy XIII (and other games) to be in 3D?

Let me know what you think!

P.S.: Sorry if this sounds like an HR survey.

like actual 3D or with 3D glasses? If its glasses, then no... they hurt my eyes and give me a headache

Yeah, me too. If you are talking about glasses forget it. Well if you are not, I'd say that the next thing I'd buy would NOT be a 3D TV. But it would be nice.

In cinema it can be fun, the 3D movie version is way more popular than the 2D version. But I don't want every movie to be 3D, just sometimes. But not in games, wearing those glasses for so long isn't comfortable.

3D is... not for me. I guess i find it kinda gimmicky, what with the glasses an' all...
I can kind of understand the whole 3d-movie thing, but i dont think it'd work for TV and games.

I think we havent seen the full pottencial of 3d effects yet( not thechnaly)
There is that recent movie ( cant remeber the name) where people went to the center of the earth. There were really nice effects but without the 3d effects the movie is a crap. Crap story and crap actors. I want to see this 2 things combined.
I read somewhere that there are future videogames wich ll use 3d techonoly. I cant imagine. The experience will be incredible but how can you focus on the game while there are monster leaving the screen lol.
Tickets for 3d movies are quite expensive, i think this global crisis is not going to help the development of this technology.

There'll probably some way to have 3D without the glasses in the near future. Well, I hope so, I like the 3D-ness but the glasses kill my brain.

The only thing I don't like is the way they're always all gimicky with characters reaching out to the audience and all that, it just seems cheesy to me and really off-putting. I'm looking forward to Tim Burtons version of Alice In Wonderland, which apparantly has 3D, stop motion and live action.

3D glasses hurt me eyes. 2D is good enough. I don't need random characters jumping out at me like their going to violate me

Ages ago, I read about a CRT monitor with what you could simlpy call "laterally tilted pixels", each of your left and right eyes would only see half of the pixels each, and with the right software, you'd get glasses-free 3D by giving each eye a slightly different feed. But of course, prototype glasses-free flatscreens have been shown on CES and such just recently.

I certainly don't like 3D because of the gay looking glasses you have to wear, the friggin glasses are irritating plus the glasses are easy to rip.

But when it comes to glasses-3D, the red/blue technology is the real crap. I saw Spy Kids 3D a few years ago, and I saw better without the glasses. The polarized 3D is better, at least I had a couple of out-of-the-screen experience with it in that IMAX theater we had for a few years.

3D with glasses suck. Movies that uses 3D technology usually have shitty actors and shitty storyline. 3D without glasses could be interesting, but I think I'll be dead by the time we'll have games like that. Let's stick with the 2D for now.

Dear god I hope the 3D does not go to gaming. Brilliant thing the effect of 3D and what it brings to Movies but I am definitely not willing to see it go to gaming or television. Now I wouldn't buy a 3D television since I already have four of those, and about five consoles lol...but it would be interesting to see a glimpse of 3D television channels and gaming screens but never would I buy them.

I work at AMC and with the invention of the Polarized glasses is a completely genius move. It does everything without changing the hue of the image and it doesn't cause pain to your head as much as the blue and red ones do, lol. I like the idea of seeing the movies go to 3D, but like I saw someone type before me 3D movies are expensive and it even depends on where you go to see a movie in general. A decrease in 3D expense would surely raise your gross populi by almost half.
