Nice idea right. It would be cool since she could be stuck between two different fates and looking a way out. She is humanities distruction as said and also the heroine/protagonist.

It seems the two crystals of Pulse and Cocoon are competeing. There is no reason they both can't control Lightning in different ways to out do one another.

Also, where did them two crystals come from? Big Bang.

Lightning cannot be an antagonist.

The terms 'protagonist' and 'antagonist' are not defined by the character's intentions, but rather their position in the narrative.

Lightning is the/a main character and her goal is the player's goal. She will always be the protagonist. She can be a downright bitch, but she's still the protagonist.

Conversely, the nicest person in the world could be working against her, but since they are working against her, they are the antagonist. Even if they save the world.

What you CAN say is that Lightning is the protagonist, but an anti-hero.

Oh you beat me to it. Thank you Shuyu.

I'm not even sure this is a good idea for a game even disregarding the improper usage of antagonist. It might fit for a story, but I don't think it would translate to gameplay well and remain interesting.

I really like the Lightening character. So far, she demonstrated to be a pretty cool character. I loved Squall and Cloud. Lightening is growing on me each time I see her on video. It is going to be so cool to use that gun sword of lightening.

Unless she has a multiple-personality disorder :wtf:

Seriously though, I think when they were saying she's going to destroy the world (or something to that effect), I think that they probably just mean Cocoon. We've seen Lightning save people, if she just wanted to destroy the world and nothing else, why would she bother? (unless one of them had a key to a giant LAZOR or something?)

I wonder if she would also be an antagonist if she actively sabotaged herself because of it.

Would make for some mighty fine lulz, though, wouldn't it?

Then she is neutral...
In the game, Villians and her are fighting against each other. On the other hand, Snow , Pig-tail girl (I forget the name...sorry...) and other friends help her to win the battle...isn't it ?!
So...she is the heroine and also the main antagonist ;)
