View Full Version : How the Brain functions

Hey all, well first of all I'd like to link you to this random little test thing, and for those of you who want to do it, it'd be cool if you posted your results back here.

Basically, this link has a test which says which side of your brain you use the most, and personally, I found it pretty accurate with what it said.

Anyway, here's the linky:

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,22556281-661,00.html

Then, my next point in this topic is to try to find out what you all think may be the cause of different people using different sides of their brain.

It's a really hard question, as there's possibly no direct answer, or "right" answer, but maybe just theories.

Basically, I can't decide if it's hereditory (as in passed down through generations), if you're born like it, or if different things in life can change and decide which side of your brain you actually use.

It could be any of these, as it could be down to your genetic make-up (so to speak.........not lip gloss, eye shadow and mascara ), but then again, people learn differently, so maybe education could even change which side of your brain you think with.

Apologies if this is rather a random topic, but it was just something I thought about whilst on the shoutbox with Koronzen, and it'd be interesting to know your opinions on the matter. ^_^

Haha, same. I'm very artistic. Need to get back into it to be honest.

Off topic: Tis quite sad really, but I drew an awesome picture of Jack Skellington with full shading. It took me 4 hours to do, and I couldn't sleep, so I gave it to a girl who I was "seeing" at the time, so not official, however that works (which is stupid), and she left me for someone else, so I haven't drawn since then. :/

Clockwise, and it's really annoying me. It won't turn the other way and it's REALLY pissing me off, just turn you shit. I can't look anymore.

Yep, definetely agree with rightbrained, but I wouldn't call my self very religious.

As for your question, all three. With this sort of thing - well, most things actually - it's never one single factor affecting you. Some might be more dominant for different people, though. You could say it depends on how impressionable you are. Well, it's probably more complicated, but it's 20 to 3 in the morning and I can't be arsed to think.

I could see both directions. Mostly clockwise though.

As Little Miss Scarlett said, I'm not the religious type, that was the one of the very few pointings down there :aldo:

Saw this earlier, probably somewhere on here. I can't remember which direction I saw it going then but I could not change it. This time I saw it going clockwise, and then suddenly it switched for a few seconds! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS I AM THE CHAMPION.

Anyway, I would've said I was more left-brained. Right-handed = left-brained, don't it? Plus them charararacteristics things.

I think they put wrong information.

Actually Clockwise is "Left Brain". And Anti-clockwise is "Right Brain".

Because Left Brain uses logic and reality based.

And people who use right hand to write indicates that they use Left side of Brain.

But people who use left hand to write indicates that they use Right side of Brain.

-Almost every people use right hand to write.-

Besides, this doesn't mean that if you use left brain , so you're smart. Absolutely NO.

Hi-tech invention or any innovation have to use imagination (creativity) and combined with calculation and logic.

Like Albert Einstein said , "imagination is more important than knowledge".

Some people who lack of right brain skill and use only left brain can be stupid. And they can't achieve their projects or goals because they are work-to-rule and dull-witted. Because they lack of intuition which is the Right Brain's skill.

So it has to be balance.

The wiered thing is that it was going clockwise at first but i sarted to read then i went the other way, so i dont think it that accurate as it only tells u what side of the brain ur useing while ur looking at it and not what side of the brain u use the most in ur day to day lives.

Another interesting right-brain/left-brain DIY test:

Clasp your hands together, interlacing your fingers (like you're praying).

. . .

Now, which thumb is overlapping?

If it's your right thumb, you're more likely to be left-brained.

If it's your left thumb, you're more likely to be right-brained.

According to these tests (and my own personal opinion), I seem to be left-brained.

P.S.: I'm left-handed, but I'm not sure if that actually means anything.

To change it at will, just wait for the outstretched leg to pass infront/behind of the idle leg and just swap between which you see as the closer leg and that'll swap which direction it rotates. Hard to explain :aldo:

dilldoe
Feb 06 2009, 07:30 PM
yeh man, if you watch it go anti-clockwise, and look closely, you'll actually see there's a missing part in the sequence when the outstretched angled leg completes a full rotation and reaches the right. And if you watch it go clockwise, you'll see the same thing happen just after you see her nipples for the second time in the rotation.

dunno but she's got a sexy arse :perv:

And you know , actually it's a TRICK!

The woman figure:

She switches leg. Look carefully , i swear that im not intoxicated.

But indeed she SWITCHES her legs.

Swaying left leg = anti-clockwise

Swaying right leg = clockwise

*First i saw it anti-clockwise because she swayed left leg , and then i was still looking for a while and i just saw she switched her leg and began to sway right leg so this time i saw it clockwise.

Therefore , please take a look for a while (a bit patience) and look carefully, then you can see that she switches her legs and changes direction!

No it's not a trick. It's your mind getting seeing it differently. Technically she spins whichever way you see it. If your mind see's her leg behind it will go one way, see it in front, it'll go the other.

I mean 'SET HERSELF AS THE CENTER' (pretend you are her).

She sways her 'own' left leg = it goes anti-clockwise.

Then she changes her leg , and begins to sway her 'own' right leg , so this time it changes direction = and it goes clockwise.

It doesn't relate with you look behind or front , just use herself as the main.

At some intersect point of legs you can see she changes her legs.

(the variation in speed , length of time , height from ground and angle may delude you , so you can't see that she changes her legs and changes direction.)

It's just an illusion it's your mind playing a trick on your eyes. We have used that turning women in our psychology class and the professor explained how the brain tricks you. Some people start to see it clockwise and others see her starting counter-clockwise... how can you explain that if it's just a trick and not an illusion.

EDIT: if you look at her with a few people together everyone see's her changing at a diffrent point in time, some people don't even see her changing. If it's just a trick that would be impossible and everyone should see her change at the same time, we tested it with over a 100 people, trust me.

OK , i understand what you're talking , it's illusion , and indeed she changes her legs and changes her direction. But the reason why some people see it clockwise and while other people see it anti-clockwise because of 'time'. If we see it at the same time and same place altogether then we get same answer! that's it ! i get it!

Once i went into that link , it was left leg that outstretched , and right leg was idle and it went anti-clockwise. Then i closed that link. And i waited for a while and i went into that link again ,and it was right leg that outstretched ,while left leg was idle and it went clockwise.

And there was the time that i saw it anti-clockwise first (outstretched left leg , idle right leg) and then suddenly it changed into clockwise way with outstretched right leg and idle left leg)

It's just like:

her outstretched left leg , idle right leg = goes anti-clockwise

her outstretched right leg , idle left leg = goes clockwise

I think it doesn't relate to whatever you are right or left brained person. But actually it's about you can catch and can focus directly or not.

Just pretend that you are 'her' and you outstretched your left leg and idle your right leg and start to go in anti-clockwise way. Then you change direction and go in clockwise way with right leg outstretched and left leg idle. Pretend that you are that woman figure.

I wanna go and ask the one who creates this that how he make this thing!(honestly)

@ Cynthia: as I said we did this in class with 100 people AT THE SAME TIME we all looked at it and you had to raise your hand if you saw it clockwise and the majority raised their hands but some people didn't because while we saw it going clockwise they saw it counter-clockwise because their brain works a little diffrent. Then the professor asked us to focus and raise your hand when you saw her going changing direction and remember we were all lokking at her AT THE SAME TIME AND PLACE and again people raised their hands at diffrent times...

It's not a general truth that if you're left-handed your brain functions are swapped, it can happen to both left and right-handed people. You just have to know that what you do with the left side of your body is linked with the right side of your brains and what you do with your right side is controlled by your left brain. It's weird, you should look up some experiments they did on this subject.

Because our both brains, right and left, are connected they can swap information and functions. But some people don't have that connection anymore and the brains can't swap.

Like a women who was blindfolded had to touch something with her left hand so the right brain took that information, but the ability to name objects was in the women's left brain. And because the brains were no longer connected she couldn't name the object with the blindfold on. When she put down the object and then take off her blindfold she couldn't say wich object it was BUT she could take it with her left hand altough she said she didn't know wich object it was.

But I can see it counter clockwise as well. So maybe I am a little bit of both? I would have thought as a right handed person, I'd be left brained.
