If we take a look at the latest trailer it is quite possible to tell how much the battles look more polished than in-game cut-scenes, from a technical view point. At the same time we have something like this for the NPC and temporary (probably) models for in-game scenes:

We also have something like this for the battles, which looks much better and screams next-gen fare, in contrast to those poor NPC models:

The most reasonable explaining I can see for this is that the trailer comes from a build wherein SE focused on the battle system and kind of rushed the rest of the material which would serve as filler from the main content which are the battles.

Proof? I do remember the developers mentioning that they had to rush things in order to show gameplay by the end of 2008, and this gameplay is precisely what we see in this trailer, originally shown on Jump Festa past December. The "rushed" things would be probably be the blocky hands and fingers we see in characters such as Vanille and NPCs during the cut-scenes.

What are the thoughts on this? Think we can see the needed polishing by the demo at April?

Thanks.

This trailer was created For Jump Festa, So it is build in November or December 2008.
SE stated that due to blu-ray printing time the demo need to be fully complete (content, tested, print ready) in December 2008.
This will be how we play it in April. And I"m happy with that, except that the battle command haven't any real animation when you select them and when they go in the stock-bar. I hope they fix it.

Was it? Where exactly?

Did SE mention anything for certain the trailer build was made exactly by when it was shown? It could still be something prior to trailer material, because I think issues like these:

...should be due for fixing for a demo.

Yeah, I agree. I think SE still have a lot of polish left to put on the game.

It wasn't made for Jump Festa, the trailer we saw is different. The Jump Festa trailer showed a lot more (Shiva in battle for one). We don't know what build this trailer was taken from.

Where'd you hear SE say they were printing it 5 months in advance? That seems incredibly stupid to me. PS3 games begin printing less than a month ahead of release, no different to DVDs. Where'd you hear them say the demo had to be completed in December, I never heard that.

And we haven't seen what happens when you choose a command in FFXIII and it goes to the stock bar, they never showed that. All they ever showed was the animation after you press triangle.

^man, I really searched for that specific quote where they say something like "we gotta have the demo ready for december so we can print it", but I couldn't find it. my googling sK1llzz really suck i guess:).... sorry 'bout that, though you've gotta take our word on this one, since both mercy and I have read about this, and they did mention it had to be ready by december (2008:P... you never know when it comes to FF;)). though you're right about the other two statements being false:)

I do remember them mentioning something like that as well.

And wasn't there two trailers for Jump Festa 2009?
